Just Flight announces the Avro RJ series for MSFS

I fully agree. F28 also great quality, also manuals appreciated. Not that many provide great docs, perhaps PMDG to mention another.

That said, price over 60€ is fair, IMHO.

Me too :+1:

I would have to insist though that it still had a realistic flight model :joy:

Joking apart, yes, we do have two exceptional devs/sellers here. Both of them go ‘above and beyond’ what they have to. This, just by itself, is a pretty rare thing nowadays.

Not yet. It was released on JF website yesterday and it takes some time for addons to show up on Marketplace. Plus there they release new addons in batches on Thursdays.

Anyone have any troubles with trim controls on their flight stick or yoke? I have a VelocityOne flight stick with a roller wheel I use for trimming. It works fine in other aircraft. It’s configured to the Elevator Trim Axis. On the RJ, it makes the elevator trim indicator judder up and down (it always returns to where it was). The trim wheel doesn’t move. I can manually trim using my mouse and the wheel.

(Trim assistance is turn off)

Edit: I realised their official support forum was where I should raise this. They’ve been able to replicate the issue and hopefully it will be fixed in a future update.

@NORTMAR

Is the hydraulic fluid consumed throughout the flight? And if so, is there a way to get it replenished? I noticed today in the 146 that my hydraulic fluid seemed near the low mark (don’t know if this was just the standard amount) and I was doing some consecutive flights in the same session and I noticed it only on the very end of the “flight duty” so I don’t know whether the amount has actually changed since I started the sim up this morning. Also I found nothing in the manual regarding consumption or replenishment of hydraulic fluid.

I use the same controller and I find that wheel very clunky, it wasn’t working well for me in any airplane - it was either registering scrolling the opposite direction here and then (and thus the trim movement was very slow and my thumb got sore) or I accidentally clicked the button next to it while scrolling the wheel. Then someone gave me an advice to map the up/down buttons on the hat switch to elevator trim and that solved the problem for me. I haven’t had to manually trim the RJ yet but you can try it the way I described.

I didn’t think things could get better than 146 but it turns out they can!

Couldn’t agree more with this…

You might want to fire up your search function towards ‘EDP’ and ‘PTU’ in the manual. As you mention it being at the end of your flight duty I would suspect you find your answers there.

For some reason I can’t engage the autothrottle. It just jumps back to the off position when I try to activate it. Any ideas?

Everything said here and more. Although it can almost backfire, like in this case. I am so confident in JF’s products that I can confidently say I’m not interested in this… I like the old days of steam gauges and VHF radios. So in this case my money will stay in my pocket.

But on the other hand if there was suddenly a JF A220, or B1900, or some other airplane I’m interested in… well then I’ll be right there at the start of the line.

i had this happen to me this morning. i also noticed the yellow yd indicator was lit on the panel directly in front me and in addition when i turned on the flight directors i was not getting the “ma” (master) indicator above the first switch. cycled all my masters and checked failures, all to no avail. i was about to restart my flight (which would have not been optimal due to the amount of time it took me to load and preflight the plane) and then i decided to cycle the ap disconnect switch on the mcp. lo-and-behold that solved my issue. i was able to engage the fd’s properly, my yd indicator extinguished and i was able to turn on the a/t

Been having a blast with the RJ. Awesome aircraft!

I’ve checked the manual and looked all over the flight deck… can’t find the brightness control for the Primary Engine Display panels (yellow-ish LEDs).

Perhaps the brightness is auto adjusted like the Brake Temp bar graph display brightness?

Just Flight’s track record with upgrades and generally looking after their customers was one reason I bought this without hesitation.

Four flights in now and absolutely loving it!

I watched some reviews. What I did not understand, are there improvements for the textures or flight model compared to the bae146? Asking, because after waiting for the RJ, I believe I would like the 146 more due to the higher workload. Especially flight model is important for me.

In terms of workload the planes are comparable. The autothrottle makes keeping your speeds a little easier but other than that your descent planning is manual although the map will show a little arc at which point you will reach your desired altitude. I have only one flight with the RJ and now quite a few in the 146 but overall there is not too much difference when it comes to workload.

Textures (cockpit) seem to be of the same quality and are not SUPER high res.
Flight model Wise they handle the same which is no surprise given that it’s essentially the same airplane and there’s is no FBW in the RJ.

The workload in the 146 is higher. Even with the FMS fitted, as it’s very limited in its capabilities. Add on top of that the lack of autothrottle and the fact that you constantly have to “arm” your altitudes :joy:

Especially on departure the 146 IS NO JOKE to manage as you have to fly the profile with hardly any guidance!!!

If you enjoy high workload than the 146 is your plane!

I was curious about the same thing. I scanned the cockpit and the manual as you did and I don’t see that the PEDs are manually dimmable. Those bright yellow LEDs can be pretty bright at night but I’ve gotten used to them. Slightly increasing the background lights can also take away some of the harshness of the yellow.

Under normal conditions Hydraulic fluid does not get ‘consumed’ unless there is a leak in the system or a mechanical malfunction that is allowing the fluid to overheat and burn off or travel somewhere where it would not normally go. Like any mechanical fluid, the level should be periodically checked. Fluid levels may be different between a cold level and while in operational use as well.

Per the fcom that should be the “panel insts” knob on the left side console/dimming panel. The one on the captain’s is wired to the centre instrument panel
