I have in the Community Folder for AI traffic only the
FSLTL Traffic Injector folder and
justflight-aircraft-traffic-fleet folder
For me a big change was when i deleted the huge FSLTL Traffic Base Models Folder.
After that i experienced the lowest fps impact .
One disadvantage : you have no fallback to FSLT Models if a livery is not present in justflight-aircraft-traffic-fleet folder. But that is not a big deal
What does this payware addon bring me if I have AIG Manager for liveries (yes it took days to install but its worth it!) with FSLTL (base models not installed) I always get nice traffic density for pancake and VR mode and correct liveries popping up whereever I am. decent FPS…and its free
Don’t have FS Traffic. But I read that you should leave the FSLTL base models folder in your community folder when using the FS Traffic models. The models from FS Traffic should have absolute priority and in case there is a missing model or livery, the one from FSLTL will be used instead.
Yes, first I did this with FSLTL base models folder too in the community folder…and there was no improvement in FPS…then i deleted FSLTL base folder (just to try it )…and I got significant better FPS (like when using the FS traffic thing alone) but now with realtime traffic…
I prefer to use the FS Traffic models only. FSLTL models for me are performance-heavy and even only 2 or 3 of them make a big impact on my performance. It’s not worth the risk just to inject the few models and liveries FS Traffic doesn’t have.
It was my understanding from the manual, and perhaps I mis-read, that it was only necessary to set the destination via the World Map OR the in-game panel.
However, in any case, I had no arrival traffic despite using the in-game panel.
Well, to be 100% clear, I had a CTD just after takeoff yesterday for the first time in months and Windows Event Viewer pointed to the JF Traffic module. So I followed JF’s social media advice from their FB post and set my destination using the JF Traffic Center app and disabled the in-game panel. No CTDs but only one visible flight during cruise, and none on arrival.
It’s indeed best of both worlds.
I also texture crunched both FSLTL and FS Traffic sim object folders down to 2048 resolution making both model packs overall 14GB of SSD space combined.
Well, I know it’s supposed to work with the in-game panel but in two flights I made, I saw exactly one aircraft en route on each flight, and none at the destination so … shrug
I made a test flight this morning with FSLTL (prioritizing the FS Traffic models for reasons of VRAM). I saw at least 4 other flights plus a few more on TCAS, and there were several flights on the ground when I arrived (KLAX - KLAS). Frame rates were much worse than FS Traffic, however.
Of course, as detailed above in earlier posts. The in-game panel caused a CTD for me after 20 minutes of pre-flight during initial climb. So I repeated the flight using the FS Traffic Control Center (“Centre”) option to set my destination in lieu of the in-game panel. That flight and a later one both went fine (no CTDs) but also no destination traffic and minimal traffic en route.
For the sake of performance, I think it’s a good idea to delete or move the FSLTL models folder from community folder and that way, FSLTL injector will only use FS Traffic models.
Of course there will be the problem of not being able to use FSLTL models as a fallback, but I think that FS Traffic already has most of the models and liveries, so it doesn’t pay to keep FSLTL models just to be able to inject a few models and liveries that FS Traffic doesn’t have and these few FSLTL models greatly affect performance
Just for clarity - you are looking at only 1/2 the amount of model / livery combinations in FS Traffic compared to FSLTL, and way less if you also don’t have AIG as fallback. In particular if you fly outside of Europe and US - there are some quite heavily used model / livery combinations missing in FS Traffic.
If you are ok with that - then of course your choice.
I get only a couple of extra frames with only FS Traffic models compared to having both. This is always going to be very system dependent in terms of hardware, the addons you use, the MSFS settings you have and all of the addon settings too. Everything has to be tweaked to reach an optimal experience.
Personally I believe everyone should experiment for themselves. Read the documentation developers take time to write to help setup their products. Understand that traffic is heavily CPU bound. So many things to consider. There is no silver bullet solution.
I’m very happy with full models in place for FSLTL, FS Traffic and AIG for fallback to get the best overall experience and I can happily tweak my system to still get solid FPS for the way, location and type of flying I’m doing.
Guys, stop fooling yourselves. Performance change is NOT due to the models. It’s the AMOUNT of traffic.
If you are having better fps because of removing FSLTL models, it’s because LESS traffic will be injected.
FSLTL models are in no way more detailed than AIG’s. In fact they are the same. FSLTL has more effects though (wheel smoke/spray etc.) and better lighting.
