Just Flight - FSTraffic

It performs 100% of its advertised functionality for me. And what’s the “JF Traffic Manager”, anyway?

I can’t speak for the poster you’re replying to, but probably the FS Traffic Control Centre application:

I have used this application maybe twice to access the options and I still get traffic at my destination airport. I just open the in-game FS Traffic menu when preparing my craft on ground, leave it open for a couple of secs till it fills the destination ICAO for me, close it and that’s it.

It certainly seems it’s working well for some but not others…
It must be something to do with all the different systems and addons etc we are all using.
My experience has been mixed so far, 70% Not good - 30% working ok.
I received an update from my ticket to JF that says they are working on an update, hopefully arriving next week.
So fingers crossed that these bugs will be sorted out.

@VintageChip47
Like you, I could not get FSTraffic to work for weeks, and a lot of midnight oil, although plenty of aircraft parked and moving around at the departure airport, plus contrails in the sky but no aircraft at the destination. I then read on a Just Flight forum or possibly Reddit that you need to fly at above 250 knots and above 10000 feet for some of the flight. I was doing local hop test flights, such as EGLL - EGKK, EGLL - EGSS, at sub 10000 feet and 250 knots maximum. Flying around for a while at higher than 10000 feet and up to 300 knots I now have loads of aircraft at the destination, parked, arriving and departing. Extremely busy and some interesting near misses. Also still seeing the bug of airshow like behaviour at the departure airport, low level fly pasts in pairs etc.
It was also mentioned to let the destination airport populate the the FSTraffic toolbar menu and not to press confirm. I tried that plus many other permutations but without the speed and height threshold but to no avail. Is this what others here are doing to make it work? I have not yet tried diverting and changing destination while adopting the height and speed condition. I will have to return to FSLTL for now if speed and height are a condition to make FSTraffic work. Also the often phonetic readout of callsigns is an immersion breaker.

I tried all kinds of workarounds to no avail, flipping a coin is more likely to determine if it will work or not.

I just fired up the sim at ESSA, FST gave me one parked aircraft next to mine in the entire airport, a couple of planes in the air some way away.
I then fired up FSLTL and my airport became full with planes.
So the question is, why does one injector manage to do that on my system but the other one cannot?

I will now just wait for the next update.

Your ‘answer’ is totally incorrect. Not the way we operate, not our style you simply need to believe me on that. We as a company wouldn’t be where we are today if that were s standard approach we adopt. It’s simply not the case.

Have covered this many times but we released it when we believed it was ready and that was using an extensive pool of testers along with the development team. The issues you identify weren’t witnessed. Post release we absolutely accept that something has gone awry and there are users that continue to suffer from the same issues you’re experiencing. On the other hand plenty of users are not and are enjoying the FS Traffic in the intended fashion. In a strange way this makes it more frustrating - why does something work for user a but not for user b. Hard to fathom, very hard. That said the team have spent every working minute since the release to find out why and to get on and fix this. We have worked with individual users, looked at their set-up and had access to their console logs to see if we can find some commonality. In positive news it looks like the team might have got to the bottom of the crux of the problems and a new complete build is due to go to testers and some affected users tomorrow . All being well that will fix things and we can release the update either later this week or early next. No guarantees of course but progress has definitely been made and we’re on the right track.

Rest assured the team won’t rest until the conundrum is solved and each and everyone of you is in receipt of a perfect working copy of FS Traffic. Thanks for your patience and apologies again to you and all those affected.

Hello all! I wanted to ask a quick question if anyone could please help me. I tried doing some research but haven’t found anything.

I am trying to change the FS traffic model textures to 2k given I prioritize the FS models in the injector and would like a lower quality livery for now.

In the FS Traffic Control centre I can change textures to low like I wish but when I try to disable FS Traffic and click confirm I get an error stating “Unhandled expectation has occurred in your application”

I click continue and exit the app but when I re open it FS traffic is back to “enabled”

If I’m not mistaken I need this to be disabled that way FS traffic doesn’t inject their traffic given I use the FSLTL injector? Or can just ignore it. I don’t want to load into my flight and have FS traffic being injected.

Is there something I’m doing wrong or a different way to get the 2k liveries with FS traffic models other then through the FS traffic Control Centre?

Appreciate any help.

Further to my previous post on another thread, you need to follow the following steps to fix this. It is being caused by the un-Installer not removing all the files. I’ve reported it as a bug.

  1. Run the FsTraffic Control Module uninstaller. This should prompt you restart your computer
  2. When it restarts locate your Community folder and look for a folder named ‘justflight-fstraffic-module’. Manually delete that folder and the ‘layout.json’ file inside
  3. Run the FsTraffic TCM installer again. You should now find that it works as intended.

If you use the MSFS addons linker you can turn on and off anything in your community folder.
So, when you fire up the sim you choose what is loaded, if you dont want to load the FST injector but want to use their planes then thats what you select.

You can find it here: https://msfsaddons.com/2020/10/19/msfs-addons-linker-manage-you-ever-growing-addons-collection-with-this-free-tool/

Hello all, I just want to keep you in the loop of where we are with the next update for FS Traffic.

The initial plan was release today however we need the weekend to track down a bug and be sure the software is as stable as possible. Release should be early next week now.

An important update is that we have changed the parameters have to be met for destination traffic to be compiled. This is now set to 1000ft/60knots/5mins. This means you will see destination traffic even if you’re flying low and slow.

The code which handles the time detection has been re done meaning that you will now consistently see the correct departure and arrivals at both your departure and destination airport. Callsigns for departure traffic will now be read out correctly, a shoutout to Whakamolenz for giving some advice on this.

The changelog is as follows but may be subject to change:

Module: Departures now using correct callsign callouts
Module: Destination airport detection revisions
Module: New system for handling departures
Module: Additional cruise AI scenarios added, plus increased randomness
Module: Additional airports added to database
Module: SF3 added to aircraft database
Module: Remove traffic/Regenerate traffic system improvements
Module: Bug when switching to an airport with no scheduled arrivals - fixed
TCC: VMR template exporting/importing bug
TCC: Right clicking headers in the TCC would cause a crash - fixed
TCC: Localisation issue fixed
Misc: In-sim menu not showing ICAO code when reopened during flight - fixed
Fleet: Added Cebu (CEB) Pacific A320, 320_SL and A320_NEO, A321_SL, A321 NEO, a330-300, ATR72
Fleet: Added Air China 747-400
Fleet: Added Air New Zealand 777-300ER
Fleet: Added Asiana 747-400
Fleet: Added Aurigny E195,ATR72
Fleet: Added Iraqi 747-400
Fleet: Added REX 737-800
Fleet: Added Singapore 777-300ER
Fleet: Added Smart wings 737-800

Fleet: Updated wheel anim code
Fleet: Added bogie tilt to A330-200/A330-300/747-400/747-8/787-8/787-9

Beyond this we will continue to make improvements and will be working with our livery artists to prepare the free model pack which will be included in a later fleet update.

I am especcially interested in adding my own AI flights. This part of the program will be working in this update?

@Hodgeheg4424 I understand the 1000ft/60knots parameters, but what time does the 5 mins parameter refer to?
That at least you have to fly at that altitude and speed during that time for the software to inject the AI traffic correctly?

Just did a flight from KBUR to KSMF…Had traffic on the ground at KBUR, and watched a CRJ taxi out and depart while I was loading passengers. Had traffic on the ground, at KSMF when I arrived. But, along the way to KSMF, I didn’t see any traffic visibly or hear any using in the in game ATC. Is this normal and if not, what am I doing wrong?

You will not hear airborne traffic interact with ATC due to the way it is injected. That might hopefully change in the future.

You should, however, see cruise traffic. Remember it spawns between FL280 & FL400 only but you can increase the amount by changing the ‘time between spawn attempts’ in the Traffic Control Centre options. I have mine set to 1 minute. Also, you must input your destination into the in-game menu when on the ground, the only time I’ve not seen cruise/destination traffic is when I’ve not done that step.

Looking at the post above I think the forthcoming update will be a good one :relaxed:

That was a very good tip, thanks. I’m just flying EGLL → LKPR and I haven’t seen so much traffic on FL around me before.

Sounds very promising! Let’s hope this fixes the taxi sound bug.

It does. But now you dont hear anytjing unless you are in a 20m radius of the aircraft. They never seem to get something done right.

I love FS traffic as much as i hate it.
I was looking for a simple ‘realistic’ tool to show real planes…
Well what can I say.

About 50% seems real to me, but when i for example start in Brussel i see a low of American Airlines A319, and some Brussel Airlines planes. I don’t think this is the real deal. Also their are still default MS A330’s.

In Dubai i don’t find any A380 from Emirates (no matter the time), but I do find a lot of B777’s from Emirates and multiple KLM’s 737. I know that KLM is not flying their 737’s to Dubai.

I don’t know what is going on, but i don’t know how to fix it. I already installed the latest patch, and there was no other traffic tool installed before. Also using the generate button in MSFS doesn’t fix it, it only generates new planes (including other wrong companies).

Anyone else with this issue?

there are not many parking spots around the Sim that have the size to handle the A380…
