So the KAP140 autopilot in the BN-2 and DHC-6 is messed up, however I’ve seen some posts around about .cfg fixes people have made that have really made it much better to use in VS and APPROACH mode.
However they’ve been scattered and hard to follow. Can someone help and post either the mod or .cfg configs needed to fix the AP? Cheers!

Not quite, but RL I wouldn’t recommend asking any autopilot to hold vs or approach with low power, especially not these old ones.
This isn’t directed at you personally as I don’t know your level of experience but in general I suppose a lot of (new) simmers want the ILS/approach quite desperately because they’re not so good at manual landings. That’s fine though, it’s how we all start at first. But you can use stuff like this to align with a runway and trim you well prior to touchdown as you slow down and configure… but don’t bet your life on this equipment to perform a landling like some CATIIB autoland flare. It’s just never intended for something like that. At about a minimum of 200 feet AGL you disconnect and land the plane manually.
I’m an IRL pilot (various GA) and I’m fine with realism in the sim, but I’m kind of suspicious against a claim that Asobo has on-purpose modeled the autopilot to not work very well as to realistically mirror a real life AP. More likely it’s just not a very well design/tested AP, with some proof seeming to come from reading the documentation of this mod where some of the code was disabled and some was half-finished.
I mean in smooth air it can’t even hold a slight descent with normal power and normal speed. I’ve attached a screenshot I took with the BN-2. To me it seems like the vertical authority just isn’t given to the AP enough and a little tweaking to increase its range could iron out some of the flaws.

What I notice though is that the AP works fine when only operating software wise in the sim but I get trouble when operating it trough hardware (honeycomb bravo). For now I just work around it by doing the first.
Can anyone tell me if this is a straightforward Community folder mod, or does it need to go elsewhere? Not finding installation documentation in the file or on Github. Thanks in advance!
The original KAP140 fix from m-chomiczewski has fixes for earlier generation of MSFS. He did not update so I have redone this concept in new mod with additional fixes. Install is easy - download, unzip, and copy to community folder. See latest release here - Releases · FS2020-USER-TESTER/KAP140-MOD-PACKAGE (github.com).
