A larger number of us flightsimers have become accustomed to the old style of keyboard commands to control the sim. Any way you can create a profile in the keyboard commands to accommodate us veterans?
Have you tried creating a duplicate keyboard profile with a new name and amending settings that have changed to their FSX equivalent?
Who’s got time for that? Ain’t nobody got time for that!
I will probably end up doing that but the new settings don’t make it easy.
Hi there
i have noticed that you can make different profiles for keyboard, mouse, joysticks etc. Everything of external hardware that are into the control section of the game, its possible to duplicate or rename profiles if you press the preset manager button left below.
i dont know if the is a limit on how many profiles there are to save but keep in mind that for each flight you have to select the right profile and not the default.
note that different controllers can have double settings but this can conflict due to different readings regarding position and calibration. like people were all different do this properly and you will have a nice and stabble flight in any kind of weather. make sure you tune sensibility and death zone to youre likings as well.
happy flyings to all and to the Asobo team and partnerships a big thanks for this great product.
I found a file called “Keyboard)FSX)” under C:/Users/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft flightsimulator/Packages/Input/.
Do you know how that file could be used to make use of FSX keyboard controls??
I much prefer the old keystrokes over the new ones in MSFS2020.
Tks
Louis
Good idea Louis, thanks for the suggestion. Are you able to upload that file in this thread?
Thanks Louis
I could find the appdata folder but nog de keyboard file you metioned in the flightsimulator (2020) folder
Happy flyings

Well Sebastiaan, It was there but don t know how to upload, only picture extensions possible and the file is too big for snapshots… In any case, when using the option Controls, I found an FSX keyboard file, but after activating this option its doing nothing to control the aircraft. So, I am lost.
In my Alpha time I suggested to make the option available but they did not listen or I am using the found FSX keyboard file wrongly. I am really missing a handbook of sorts. I still have MS2 including the and charts that came with it… keeping on dreaming
Anyway I still have P3DV5 and am happy with that one.

Hi there Louis
I checked but i still have not foundation this file still looping into this.
What i want to suggest is that you take screen shots from youre fsx key lay-out, open them up on a second screen, or if you dont have this use, alt tab, to switch between te opend files or program. And open up msfs, on the controlsection keyboard and select this. Make a copy or a New file an delete all thats in there, now you have an empty list, gave it a name you can recognize with the preset manager. Now with the search section u can search for the different functions and program/map the key you want for it, switch back and forward with the alt tab keys to switch between msfs and the screenshots. It is a lot of work but in the end it gave satisfaction, and its a wat around to enhance youre flight experience.
There is also a beta version of fsuipc7 availlable it valid until somewhere in oktober for testing in here you can program joysticks, keystrokes, or buttons or switches . For the final release of this program we will have to pay. But if youre building some cockpit it is a very handy program once you get the hang of it.

Hello Sebastiaan,
Well, you suggest a lot of work but will certainly give it a a go. Thanks also for the hint on FSUIPC 7.
I have a full version 6 in P3DV5 and will use it in my MSFS2020. Have no idea though where to put it. Have you? The whole menu structure has changed and is a riddle for me.
Have a good day and thanks!
Louis
Hi there Louis
Fsuipc 7 will operate outside of msfs because its no longer required to work through the simconnect. dll, anyway when you downloaded the zip Just unzip it to anywhere you like.
When startups msfs, you can also manually startup fsuipc7.exe.
I attached them both to my taskbar, i have msfs run in windowed mode.
On the site of Peter and John Dowson i read also something about former fsuipc ini files that it supposed to copy it or sections of it into the new ini file
which is also located in the new fsuipc7 directory.
It can save a lot of time.
Good Luck with the project of keymapping.
