Lack of Communication from Microsoft and Asobo

I don’t expect the marketplace anywhere soon, they have such a big mess to fix and releasing the marketplace will only increase the amount of problems significantly.

No doubt about that.

They said that mostly everything from 2020 will work in 2024, for sure it won’t because PMDG is still struggling.

And fixing these issues might affect the core sim negatively. Only increasing the workload more…

Just my 5cents….

So they didnt care…:man_shrugging:

They have said repeatedly that the marketplace will release with SU1, which is probably a mere few weeks away. They have already frozen the changes that will be included in SU1 and are just stabilizing it before release.

gaming as a live service…release it broken, fix it 3 years from now

It was a mere few weeks away a mere few weeks ago. I’ve been a staunch supporter of this product but now even I’m at the point of labeling it as a hot pile of garbage. They can’t get SU1 out in a timely manner, features are totally missing in action with simply no mention of them at all. Bugs that just go on forever. And Microsoft give us the wall of silence.

Radio silence sums it up best. It’s not what we were promised, it’s still very broken, and we are still waiting.
It’s now March 2025.
Microsoft Asobo… do you copy???

I think Microsoft uses the FS24 default ATC. That explains the radio silence. I have a number for them to copy.

Well that did not age very well

Why not just getting the stuff that is working right in SU1 Beta out the door and move things that are not towards SU2?
What is the point of delaying fixes for airplanes provided by 3rd party Devs weeks and month ago?

It is almost 3 months since the last major update, and almost 2 months since the last minor fix released. Assuming your where confident that the Sim was in good condition on release date it should not take so long to get a SU out to the public.

By just releasing fixes sooner than later might take a bit steam out of the system. By further delaying bugfixes until a specific scope for SU1 is meet does not make sense in my point of view.

Lets be real, the last update notes contained 2 lines.

Does this holding the SU1 back?

Or is it this one?

I don’t think I’ve seen any official communication state this, but I’m sure what’s going on is that SU1 is “done” and has been for some weeks. The issue is Marketplace. And these are tied together as I would expect, since I would assume sim-side changes are needed in combination with marketplace and payment/entitlement changes outside the core sim code.

I wouldn’t draw any conclusions or get worked up any further over the number of line items in these minor release notes. They’re probably just releasing fixes that are very isolated from other changes. Targets of opportunity, I’ll call them.

There are several reports that SU2 is already well underway. Starting to port those back to SU1 while waiting for marketplace fixes is likely too risky. Branching code can be very tricky.

Everyone should just hope the marketplace work is done properly. Bugs there could be really really bad for users.

It sounds as if you and SylvesterRocket are misinterpreting the situation, it wasn’t a timeline, they were simply stating the obvious, which was the absence of a confirmed release date. So that does make it baseless speculation and hearsay.

yeah sure
if you ignore the fact that he was right, it didnt come before march

First of all the comment regarding March was not made from me but from another user. Credits to him. I just did back it with some educated guess.
Secondly the comment was made on January 17th. At this point of time the only official “confirmed” release date was Q1 since the Dev Stream took place a few days after the comment.
The topic of this thread is “Lack of Communication from Microsoft and Asobo”, given that there is only hearsay and speculation we can do in this form due to the lack of Communication at this point of time. So what you are saying is that MSFS Team did only state the obvious due to the lack of communication from theirs side. We as the customer only left with hearsay and speculation. Or sometimes an educated guess.
In my point of view this would make it even worth  But this is my point of view and to be fair the comms improved since then. Not to the point I would like it to be but it did improve.

Sometimes it might be better to prove this comment wrong with action (release it really before March) than just stating the obvious that nobody – as it looks like even MS/Asobo – knows the right answer.

Let me finish with another topic regarding this. The WU Brazil was announced with a target date around March 11th. This is 5 days from now. Well knowing this was not a fixed date. But would it be not the time for the dev blog today to tell us if this is still the target date or it will be delayed due to the delay in SU1 release?

And let me add a bit more of speculation here. Given we are about 8 weeks away from the end of April it sounds very ambitious to release SU2, with an even bigger scope than SU1, in April. Given the current experience with SU1 schedule. But this is again only speculation or as I would call it educated guess.

I don’t believe SU1 is even close to being finished. Given this missing feature:

And major bug (apparently slated for SU2):

And this which is “feedback logged”:

One last major bug:

I just don’t understand how SU1 is even close to being finished for Microsoft to start working on SU2. Still no hint or “official communication” on the Marketplace.

PC-12 NGX issue is fix with a package update

Long Loading sound like is CDN issue

Keep an eye out for the Dev Blog today.

What time are they normally posted at?

Around 4PM Pacific time +/-

Really late in Europe, guess I’ll read it tomorrow then lol

Another case of lack of communication that is concerning. Yes, once again I am going to talk about bush trips.

Mabel had stated in the FlightSim Expo 2024 in June last year that “missions” weren’t going to load in. No details were given what that meant. I continually kept pushing for a definitive answer on whether bush trips were going to be in 2024. Jorg finally said “nothing from 2020 is being removed. Only things added”.

Come the launch of 2024, bush trips were removed in the activities menu. The library specifically disables mission addons purchased in the Marketplace and will not allow them to be activated. Inquiring whether they were to be included, we were told by Community managers that bush trip code was still being worked on, and they would be “reintroduced” to 2024.

There is a wish list item to have bush trips added back in. Someone in that thread said there was a rumor coming out of Asobo that was not good for the future of bush trips, but did not elaborate. I contacted one of the 3rd party developers of bush trips to inquire what they knew, and they said there was an issue, and that it looks like they will be scrapped.

Now I purchased 2024 solely to do bush trips. We were told they would be in 2024, and they weren’t. We were told they would be included later, and now it appears they aren’t. But NONE of that communications is coming out of Jorg or Asobo in the Q&A sessions or notifications on the forums.

Seriously, for those who are like me who only do bush trips, is the plan to keep all those customers in the dark and never deliver the functionality they are waiting for? What kind of a cruel way is that to run a business. If you sell a customer on something, then you scrap it, TELL those customers. Just don’t keep silent and let them wait forever. I didn’t get a refund back when I could have. Now its too late.

I fully believe Jorg and Asobo are passionate about the sim. I do. But the one thing they don’t like to do is deliver bad news. The topic will be avoided. Or you get Marketing speak. This sim was advertised as appealing to core simmers, causal simmers, and virtual tourists. “Virtual tourists” was a new classification added for 2024. What does a virtual tourist mainly use? Bush trips. You get to see the area, and learn about it at the same time, either through narration or the nav log entries. So you have a whole classification of users for 2024 that now you aren’t going to service, and nobody wants to come out and deliver the bad news. You are going to make these folks wait forever, and hope that maybe they try out one of the other modes in the meantime. I am not really interested in flying per say. I want to explore the world. So I am sorry, career mode isn’t going to appeal to me. Challenges aren’t going to appeal to me. Jetliner flying isn’t going to appeal to me. My main interest was exploring the digital world in a way that I can see and learn at the same time. There is no other mode that does that. And I find it really alarming and disconcerting that customers can’t even be told that what they purchased won’t ever be delivered, or at least provided ANY type of update.

POST SU1 EDIT: It seems they put the Bush Trip code into the release as silently as they removed Bush Trips for launch. There are some things I would like seen updated, such as the main Bush Trip window does not have the total legs and total flight time on the main screen. And I haven’t flown one yet. I don’t know if it respects weather and time, how the transition between legs work, etc. But at least something is there now.
