Leaving su2 beta wiped my existing beta and non-beta install

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

I was in the su2 beta and started msfs2024 today. The SU2 update happened (not much data, quick install) and when finished I was no longer running the beta version…even though I’d not opted out yet. So I poked around and found that the only real issue that I’d been having in the beta (Excruciatingly slow response in Setting Controls Screen) was still happening. So for grins I went and opted out of the beta.

Previous to opting out, I had two install locations: the normal ms-store location (…\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe), and Y:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

That Y: folder looked like this before opting out:

Now it only contains a single folder, Community Temp.

Additionally, there’s now a new folder in Y:\XboxGames, mostly empty.

• In my case, I wasn’t receiving the SU2 update while still joined to the beta program. So I left that this morning and then was prompted for the 445MB (give or take) update during the next launch. All good and on 1.4.20. Quit the sim after a couple of brief flights.

This evening when I launched the sim I was notified I needed an update which was 8.8GB; sure enough it appears like a new install and the contents my community folder are gone including some 3rd party payware which installs there. Settings were back to defaults too.

If I was already at 1.4.20 then why would the sim decide it needed to reinstall?

Ok, I’m happy (kinda) to report that this is a known issue for those opted into the beta:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/transitioning-from-the-sim-update-2-beta-to-the-live-build/720978

Opting in and getting pertinent information are 2 separate things in my limited experience; I looked around to find the above info before opting in and couldn’t (my bad searching skills, not because it wasn’t there), so I’m glad @iinKWest posted that…thank you!

So for me, this issue is solved; I’ve literally bought zero DLC, and only had one addon that’s easily replaced, so the only big deal is the controls page bug that’s plaguing some of us (me). Thankfully, somehow, my control settings weren’t wiped out! But this may be my call to switch all configs to “blank” and seriously learn Mobiflight.

To thanks again @iinKWest for the post, I’m going to go explore SU2 now.
