Assuming make it to 80, I either won’t have the vision to distinguish 4K from 640x480, or I won’t have the cerebral capacity to troubleshoot the 10 or 15 issues each day that prevent me from just starting the sim & flying. Then it’ll just be watching YouTube videos 2 ft away from an 85” monitor to enjoy the sim at all.
I couldn’t agree more. From 35,000 feet there’s relatively little difference between FXS and MSFS2020. And though I did buy the PMDG737 (again!), and I like making long fast leaps in the CJ4, I find I rarely use these aircraft anymore; there’s far too much beautiful land to fly over.
Moreover, the preoccupation with systems fidelity that has been absorbing the default commercial jets is a turn-off. While there seems to be a certain machismo attached to marketing it and using it, I’m never able to see past “deep” systems simulation being anything more than a eccentric iteration of a generic puzzle game nested inside a vast and very exciting sandbox game. Ctrl-E and off I go.
Seriously ? At 35,000 ft there is little difference between FSX and MSFS2020? One of us doesn’t have good eyes!
LOL. I think they meant in the middle of that trans-Atlantic crossing with clear skies?
Very well written letter @rgp1942 - Whilst I won’t hold my breath, I hope it gets read by people who can make a difference
Me too. I’ve learned from this thread that anything with a vote count less than 300 is never going to become an “action item” for Asobo. Apparently my perception that “the rest of us” outnumbers airline flyers is wrong. They seem to have a lot of clout in getting things done. I can understand Asobo focusing their resources on issues that affect the maximum number of users – that’s the way it should be. I also understand that my “wish” for features we used in FSX that weren’t carried forward into MSFS is just “jousting at windmills”, even though they are in the Wish List category (they lack “critical mass” votes). The lack of these features being carried forward would seem to indicate that the initial designers of MSFS were not FSX flyers (or they would have kept the useful legacy features – a true “upgrade” to FSX). So I will live with what we have and continue to enjoy MSFS “as is” (supplemented by 3rd party solutions to fill in the gaps). I’m not about to go back to FSX, that’s for sure! Later…
I’m not too sure. In the poll I created recently, with only about a pool of 60 voters, but I’d say VFR and Backcountry edges it still. Fair enough it can’t be scaled up precisely but I still think it’s a good indication of ratio. Check it out and add your votes if you haven’t already!
Hello @rgp1942,
This is a serious misrepresentation of my response to you in that thread. What I wrote is that for an item to appear on the weekly Feedback Snapshot, it has to be the #48 (or greater) most upvoted wish list item by the player community on this forum (with the cut-off being 343 votes as of last week). However, as I was very clear to state in my post, that does not mean that the developers are not actioning items voted #49 and below, nor does it mean that these items are not on the radar for implementation in a future update. Here was my exact text in that thread:
Please keep in mind that the items published in this snapshot represent the top 48 most popular wish list items as determined by forum votes. It’s not a report of all items the dev team is currently working on for inclusion in the next release or all items that are scheduled further out for implementation in a future update. It is possible that some of the feature requests you have personally submitted are currently in active development, but they may not show up on this report as they are not among the top 48 based on forum votes.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
Could you publish an extended list of, say, top 100 or 150 items then? Maybe not in the same nicely graphically presented format, just raw text / table? Or even have a Wiki for it ongoing in the forum system that gets updated and save you the trouble of doing the graphical sheets each time. Just reference to a nicely organised Wiki section which could include everything.
Hello @Baracus250,
You can already view the current vote count of every Wishlist request (and therefore the top 100-150 items) yourself. Browse to the #msfs:wishlist section of the forum and click the “Votes” button (shown in the screenshot below) to sort by vote count.
Alternatively, you can click this link.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
I’m sorry you feel that way. I should have been more clear - thanks for keeping me honest. But I think you will agree that a requested improvement/correction/feature with less than 300 votes is unlikely to land on any programmers desk anytime soon. This is not a criticism, it’s just a practical reality. :o)
Thanks! This is helpful.
Hello @rgp1942,
I actually disagree with this statement. Forum votes are one input source out of many different ones that the development team uses when deciding which bugs and feature requests to prioritize first. It is definitely not the only thing that determines which items receive developer attention.
In fact, if you look at the release notes for every previous Sim Update, you will see many bug fixes and improvements for items with very low vote counts or, in some cases, no corresponding forum topic/vote count at all.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
Thanks for clarifying! This is good news from my perspective, and the way I was hoping it works. I appreciate the confirmation!
This is exactly how Microsoft gets away with stating the product has a 10 year commitment.
It sure does but they never did guaranty you would only have to pay for it once!
Clearly there is as much being put into revenue generation (Xbox for example) as there is product development. This is what keeps people engaged and spending $$$.
I’m not sure if your post is a rant or a recommendation???
Either way don’t expect anything to change.
Hey. Thanks and indeed that is useful. I admit that I have never sorted it that way before. Glad to see “force feedback support” so high up!!
But still, for anything outside the top 48 we can’t see the “Status”, right?
Is there a similar table for what would be classified as reported ‘bugs’?
When I sorted it, all of the posts were shown – clear down to those with zero votes (hold your page-down key down for many many screens). My fixation on getting the half-done multiple windows improvement completed (they allowed spawning a window, but you can’t choose a camera view for it, so what good is it) is down at 95 votes, so I won’t be able to put the instrument panel on a separate monitor any time soon (using only MSFS resources). Interestingly the issue of inaccurate snow had only 57 votes so hopefully they will get to the windows issue first! :o)
Thanks to all those who have made this thread so:

Microsoft fs 2020 is my first and no regrets
Great poll! The IFR airline flyers are not the majority after all… So far. I hope more than 66 people will vote, and that Asobo will give it due consideration in their planning. Is it possible for them to tag or feature this poll somehow?
