Limitless > Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 > Locked files > Unlocked files. Patch weirdness 1.2.7.0

I see that you have changed the default installation location for MSFS 2024 - by default is C drive and XboxGames folder. In this folder, I have MSFS installed and the subfolder name is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Could you please go to the following location on your C drive:
C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Packages
Then, scroll down until you see the folder named Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe.
Please take a screenshot of the window showing the folder name and attach it in your reply.

I think it’s just the Xbox app installer that creates the name on install.

So, if the Xbox app installer has been updated and it generates the folder name then that could explain it.

But hang on, I didn’t think that folder was generated until the sim was launched for the first time.

Now you have me wanting to uninstall and carefully watch what goes on when I reinstall.

You could try a reinstall. Just copy your usercfg.opt and paste it back when finished. The other files recreate itself.

Edited ^ with packages screenshot now.

Thank you for the screenshot. It looks like the folder is not a symlink to another location so the files should not be locked …

Right, no symlink on the folder (2020 does have one)

Done. The folder was generated at the end of the installation process, and it is named… limitless.

That is okay, that is the package name. What about the game install name? In Drive:\XboxGames?

Oh, that showed as 2024 and did so even before I just reinstalled it.

Was I confused here? Were we talking about the exe’s folder and not the appdata folder?

(it’s early here, I am not fully awake!)

The appfolder where you just shown the screenshot from, does it have locks inside the folder?

Locks as in locked files or locks as in a “lock” file(s)?

This is from 2020 btw.

No locks:

I don’t believe I’ve ever seen locked files for either 2020 or 2024.

That’s good, it baffles me tbh. ^^ The 2020 screenshot above is also a fresh install and those have locks. Is your 2020: AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe the same?

Yes, the same:
