Little-known developer creating scenery in the southwestern UK

Just found these guys…

Never heard of them before but they have three sceneries available (all in the southwest of the UK), with a very good-looking rendition of Guernsey presumably not too far off release. The quality looks outstanding — I’m very tempted to get the Scilly Isles package (video: simMarket: THE ISLES OF SCILLY MSFS)

Anyone have any of their work?

There is not even a name or address in the contact page. I would not buy from someone who does not even have a name nor other business info.

Looking at the quality, I don’t think this is really an issue, especially since the outfit is almost certainly a one-man-band. They sell at Simmarket, which I guess requires a certain degree of legitimacy.

I’ve got his Scilly Isles and Plymouth area photogrammetry. Been in touch with him one-to-one to make various improvements too. And yes it’s a one man show, a hobby. No reason not to trust it ( @BachFrosch85590 ) and if the subjects interest you, it’s content you can’t really get anywhere else (although there are bits and bobs of freeware available that have some overlap).

Unfortunately I’ve come to a dead end with comms trying to improve Plymouth, but it’s not too bad as-is, just has some performance issues that we could only iron out by lowering the quality a lot. Catch-22. Not tried it in 2024. Maybe the original HD one would work better now. Maybe I’ll try!

Very cool. I remember visiting in 2009, went on the Scilonian and was amazed at the amount of cars on just St. Mary’s alone. The beaches and scenery are amazing for such a tiny island. Beautiful place.

I’m very much looking forward to Guernsey as the detail looks to far outweigh that of UK2000’s version. We need devs like this to expand their coverage as there are plenty of smaller UK airports that would benefit from this kind of facelift. This Guernsey is shaping up to be a day one buy for me.

Appears to feature the whole island (St. Mary’s) and not just the airport? Superspud has a very decent looking freeware version but the Real VFR rendition looks superior? Any idea about compatibility with Seafront’s UK SW?

Would be very interesting to know if any of these play nicely with 2024.

….and while we’re in the area; big thanks to Superspud for providing a large amount of quality freeware for the South West.

OT but, Is it pronounced S-K-illy or Silly, because if it’s the latter, I’ll have to add it to my bucket list of places to go.

Silly. Yes really!

yes…I have the Isles of Scilly. Great version of St Marys airport. I wish they’d bring it to 2024, but it may well be compatible anyway. Going there next year (IRL)!

Is it a lot of the island as well as just the airport?

They just posted another teaser of their upcoming Guernsey. Both the airport and surrounding detail look superb! Definitely for FS2024; not sure about 2020.

not sure having not been there yet. Certainly airport and immed surrounds

Just tested all the ones I own (actually, all of his portfolio lol).

Scilly Isles: works, but has a few issuies

  • Some tall grass on the new grass airstrip needs surpresssing.
  • Some houses pop in (LOD) very late
  • St. Mary’s airport is fine.

There is quite a lot else added. Residential areas (mainly near St. Marys) with custom houses, conservatories etc. Play parks with custom objects like a pirate ship and climbing frames, picnic areas, harbour walls with static ships, lighthouses with helipads and a new ICAO small grass strip with some nice buildings alongside.

Bolt Head: works fine, looks good. No issues spotted.

Plymouth Area: unfortunately I could not get it to work (loading flight from the re-activated IRL closed airport EGHD just hangs for ever). And then after I back out of the loading flight, the sim won’t quit (have to End Process). It could be a conflict with something else I have (Orbx South GB, Tamar Bridge PG, Seafront Sims SW) but not got as far as trying to isolate it. I doubt it though - it is just enabling that scenery and I cannot load in. I will try re-enabling it and flying TOWARDS it from somewhere nearby next I guess. I’ll be back!

EDIT: OK so the Plymouth scenery itself “works” if you start somewhere else, but cannot spawn onto either of the included airfields (Pipers Field PLYF or EGHD). However, I am now not sure what version I have installed, as we were testing so many iterations, but it is really not very good compared to the PG we have seen from Asobo recently! It ran very smoothly on the flip side, but very low detail resolution and odd colours.

I will ask him if he can do an update to improve and fix it for 2024.
