Imagine the world in a few years; yes because the technology of driverless cars is already here; it is only a matter of time; yet again progress move forward. What about us Simmers ? We could not be left behind the roads revolution already in action. We have to work to catch up with the big multinationals and their inventions; the answer is Live World Traffic intelligent roads traffic for MSFS. Welcome to the future of Msfs roads; we started this journey many years ago by changing defaults roads into something a bit more natural or a bit worst; however here our power engine is one and will always be one; move forward from where you are and what an amazing journey this was; unforgettable !!
From Textures - Terraforming - to Intelligent roads.
Real roads. Real traffic. Thousands of cars drive on real road maps under your aircraft, follow you wherever you fly, give way at junctions, stay in their lane, traffic lights synchronisation; and use live road-sensor speeds where available. Intelligent traffic engine for the Msfs 2024. What Live Roads Traffic does Live Roads Traffic is a companion program that runs next to MSFS 2024. It reads road maps from your computer, plans thousands of car routes around your aircraft and moves the cars in the simulator through SimConnect. Real roads everywhere. A world road map is the base; detailed OpenStreetMap road packs add every street where installed. Follows you. Traffic is planned around your aircraft and re-planned as you fly, from a slow paraglider to an airliner. Smart traffic. Motorways are fast, side streets slow, one-way streets are respected, cars give way at junctions, keep a safe gap in queues and drive in their own lane (left in the UK and Ireland). Live speeds. In Switzerland (with your own free key) and France, measured speeds from real road sensors are used.
Safe with photogrammetry. Road corridors in the package give cars a clean road surface in photogrammetry cities. Light on frame rate. Auto density adds or removes cars to hold your target frame rate; a visible range limits cars to what you can see. Will be delivered in two versions: Free version with all major world roads covered apart from residentials roads; equipped with fully live traffic functionality. 50 vehicles; 10 motorbikes specifically designed for this kind of engine ; covers: motorways; primary; secondary; trunk. Swiss Astra / Fedro live feeds (you will need a token from their site) ; french Bison / Fute’ is hardcoded by default and as soon you are in France traffic switch to live where there are sensors. A manual will be included. Coming soon at Simmarket. Where there is no live coverage the system use a synthetic intelligent traffic management system; able to create simulate real world roads traffic situations. The system cover the whole world. We hope to see you on board into the Msfs roads scenery chapter. The future is now present; maintenance; improvements; new idea; customers wishes telling us what they would like add it on; the engine is powerful tool; it can work from a world wide range to road class / zone level; for example we add a bus only on city areas without wondering around the M 25 (nothing against London) beautiful city.
Live World Traffic MSFS 2024
What next now that the engine is released ?
Now we need to improve the roads infrastructures system; yet another global wide challenge; cars need an world wide Msfs improved infrastructure; bridges; tunnels; parking will all be look at; and of course; all part of the same project; who is on board will travel with us till the end of this journey with only one ticket !

Then engine offer settings in the form of number of cars visible / range / it can be set by indeed set the numbers of cars or roads and how far they go into the distance; another way to set the engine is by using number of frames you might want to see and again range; of course the more cars the more resources costly is. The vide taken above show settings of 30 fps with a range of 2 km; a low setup. System go up to 6000 vehicles on the roads distributed over 5 km at high settings. Each singe vehicles is controlled by the engine where their routes are calculate according to osm latest roads data which ship with the engine. We not add residentials roads; all other major roads class are included; motorways; primary; secondary; trunk; residentials can be added at later date; zone by zone; this will give more control over resources and quality of cuts especially over Tin areas.
This seems like it would have some serious impact on performance during specific times of day like rush hour.
No; The system give you exactly what you need; you have full control of roads traffic settings. It is not a system that splatter vehicles on roads; it calculate where and what they do for example if there is a massive traffic congestion which can happen in real world; the engine recognize a grid lock; it will time stuck vehicles programmatically; time them out and remove as new arrive; it will always check everything is in working order and of course you can have 1 zillion real world cars stuck on a road but not in msfs; that is why Ai programmed the switch.
It is equipped with state of the art diagnostic system; to give an idea here is the diagnostic panel that show telemetry readings; take examples from formula 1 cars; all data transmitted into the system checked and changed as required:
We had to spend lots of time and resources to build it; there would have been no point to get into soemthing like this without a sound solid base to work the way up.

We need better roads; fed up to see cars run like san quintino bull race ; cars are everywhere in the simulator; is a prominent feature; need to improve. Now that the engine is finally working after 90 different version; we keep improving but what come into the game now is the roads nodes; such bridges most important; we than have a solid connection between all the lines; another step forward. Keep improving engine even if is more than enough as is; and now tackle all those horrible photogrammetry and default bridges including viaducts; where cars fall down the sky; all removed and replaced with ai drivable surfaces.
The aforementioned issues with bridges and broken road connections are something that’s bothered me a lot with this sim. Hope you’re able to figure it out!
We will; that is what we are here for; in the video it show synthetic traffic; generated by the engine; at this stage msfs default traffic is set on 0 and the live roads traffic engine is the only traffic you see; of course you can still use both; but using the default traffic; is like again put it back cars with no awareness; the live traffic engine carry osm data not only roads but it also read all the information that come with the roads data; speeds; junctions; one way streets; it also control vehicles class distribution on roads; you will not see a city full of articulate; only mainly on major roads; all the info on msfs data the engine read and adjust its traffic accordingly. This is all showed in this video; speed differences between vehicles. Viaducts in Genoa end of video is an example of what we will tackle next; infrastructure; traffic is already very smooth over non tin areas; in short we are re-building the roads scenery part of msfs 2024 using the latest technology; is from the base (the engine) up all the way to the top; now we move into the next level; roads fixing.

Where is the free version to try out? I can only see the paid version on simmarket.
The original plan was to make a free version; but I have to change it for the moment because of a payware version; with more details would have been a too much of a push at this stage; for the moment I did not released. Having said that; I can do a free detailed version; which include let say a city; where I can build full roads network; and also test next step to fix infrastractures such as bridges and whatever else come our way. As the engine comes with its own sdk; and include new tools a step a time is the right approach; we can test first before sending anything out that is rushed. If you have an area in mind let us know and take it from there. If there is live feeds traffic data available; let us know and we can include it in the panel after we check is a go.
We can add Tom Tom to the live feeds panel; each user will need to get their keys to use live feeds; that will give live traffic of all Tom Tom covered areas. I must add; we check with Tom Tom of course first. Its all possible here; give roads data and system will take it and how on msfs.
When you have it fully functional, please sell in MPlace.
I hope we can also drive the crosskart on these roads too, or any other vehicle’s owned?
That is another good idea; adding crosscart tracks is possible; we can even look to add multiplayers functionality; with live circuits while you race with tracks that strech for miles; so you always check if you are in front or last and need to push a bit harder the car.
Whatever; motocross circuits; whatever is related to commuting ; sports using vehicles; the engine cover it all.
I will sure keep the sports aspect in mind and will definitely come a point wil add this into the mix.
I have contacted Tom Tom; to clear the path to add it on; this will also be added to the free version; of course anybody who want live streaming traffic will have to get the Tom Tom api key; than add into the keys panel in live roads traffic app. Look like there is a free daily allowance; adding streaming is a better way to test the app; as it will read all the data; speeds limits; directions; and all that is in.
Do you have an idea of how many crosscart tracks are in the world ? Just a rough idea if you know.
Sorry no. I expect there will be thousands each country having a specific name for them.
ok no problem; let see what can be done; and will get back to you.
We have a prototype is a dedicated engine for crosskart racing; can race alone or in groups; whoever own the app can be a host and invites friends to races with all the fancy gadgets you might want / request we will try to please with exactly what you want. Ability to use onboard vehicles or any other of your choice; initially 5 tracks; engine also open to race anywhere in the world you like; additional tracks including ‘crosskart’ race atmosphere will be built as free addons or including the ‘track builder’ into the app itself is another option we can explore.
Tracks are specifically designed for crosskarting sport; with a custom terrain approch for this kind of activity; which can also extend to part of the world areas where you might want to race in a ‘free wild environment’.
We now have to start to go into build details / tests it; there will be up and downs during the process but I am confident we can deliver.
Can this mod use the Pyreegue traffic models? Is the visibility range bigger than with default sim traffic which will only show at 2000-3000ft? Does it model traffic jams?
It can be used with model you like; however always keep in mind performance; the engine monitor it for you; all the info are there and easy to control;
here is how is done; we also added this to the guide pdf included with the package:
Adding your own vehicles to Live Roads Traffic
6 Oct 2026
Any ground vehicle installed in MSFS 2024 can join the traffic next to the 60 built-in vehicles: you list its name in your own small text file, restart the app, and it drives on the roads. No programming and no package building are needed.
Before you start
You need three things:
- The vehicle installed in MSFS 2024, as a SimObject in your Community folder (or a vehicle that comes with MSFS). Live Roads Traffic only places vehicles that MSFS already knows.
- Its exact title – the name MSFS uses for it. Step 1 below shows where to find it.
- Live Roads Traffic V94 or later, with the traffic working normally.
Step by step
- Find the vehicle’s title. Open the vehicle’s folder in your Community folder, for example
Community\my-vehicle-pack\SimObjects\GroundVehicles\MyTaxi\. Open sim.cfg (older add-ons: aircraft.cfg) with Notepad. Each [fltsim.N] section has a line title=... – copy the text after title= exactly, including capitals and underscores. A file with several [fltsim.N] sections holds several vehicles (often colour variants); each has its own title.
- Open the vehicles folder. It is the folder called
vehicles inside your Live Roads Traffic folder, next to the program. Do not edit vehicles.txt itself: an update of Live Roads Traffic replaces it, and your changes would be lost.
- Create your own list. In the
vehicles folder, create a new text file, for example my_vehicles.txt (right-click → New → Text Document). The name must not start with _ (such files are switched off).
- Add one line per vehicle: the title, how often it should appear, which roads, and optionally where. The next section explains the columns; the examples after it can be copied as they are.
- Save the file (plain text, File → Save in Notepad).
- Restart Live Roads Traffic. The SESSION card now shows your list next to the built-in one, for example
66 models · vehicles.txt + my_vehicles.
- Test on the ground. With MSFS running and the aircraft on the ground, press Test vehicles. Every vehicle is placed once; any title MSFS does not know is listed as not installed.
- Fly. Your vehicles now mix with the built-in ones in the proportions you chose.
