I’m currently trying out a transatlantic flight in the 787. But I notice something weird has happened. I’m currently over Canada where it should be 10:27am in the timezone I’m in. But outside it’s pitch black. I noticed earlier that the elapsed time clock had reset itself. It currently shows 1h:30mins have passed instead of about 8h:30min. Whether that’s connected to the darkness, I’m not sure but it seems awfully coincidental and I’ve never experienced this before.
Did you use time acceleration at all?
Live weather is set to Live Weather, like this:
(Live Players, All Players or Off, but Live Weather and Time must be selected)
Haha It was kinda freaky. I thought it must be a glitch and it’ll right itself soon but it just kept getting darker and darker as if I was flying West to East.
Yes, all that was on and is still on I’ve just quit out and double checked.
UPDATE: I ran the same flight at the same time, with the same aircraft and kept every setting as it was, and everything went smoothly for the entire 11 hour flight.
It’s also worth mentioning that when the problem initially happened, the in-game clock seemed to show the incorrect zulu time also. It’s almost as if the in-game clock had rest itself causing the the incorrect elapsed time and the sudden descent into darkness?
I just did a search on the forums for this issue as this has just happened to me again for the 3rd or 4th time and noticed I’d already created a topic on this very problem 8 months ago which is handy. Now I know I’m not imagining things.
I decided to run a long flight today from Schipol EHAM to Guayaquil Escador SEGU in the 78X. I took off about 12pm UTC and was expected to touch down at 01:30am UTC. It’s currently 19:00 UTC. I’ve not long woke up after a brief 2 hour nap and it appears my “eleapsed time” has in fact reset. It says only 1 hour 26 minutes has in fact elapsed when I know it’s closer to 7 hours. I’m approaching the the coast of the Dominian Republic about 400ml to go and It’s currently showing my UTC time as 13:30z and my next step climb to FL400 at 14:37z. I’m using live weather and no time acceleration.
The game wasn’t minimised at all during my sleep. And the computer/screen never went into standby mode as no other programs were open or overlapping the game screen.
Like i previously said, this has happened before. Probably 3 or 4 times ever and I’ve always thought it was in my mind. The first and strangest occurance I can remember was in the Concorde during an afternoon summer transatlantic crossing from Heathrow to JFK and it randomly started getting dark I was approaching the Canadaian coast. It shouldve remained daylight for the whole short 3 and a half hour trip. And it certainly shouldnt have got dark as the darkness was essentially behind me plus it was summer. Since then this has happened 3 or so times over 4 years on different planes and on different journeys and I can’t pinpoint what could be causing it. It seems genuinley random.
Other people mustve noticed this by now and thought it was their imaginations too.
