Live Traffic improvement coming with SU11

If this eliminates spinning airplanes on taxiways and “Please exit runway when able…” calls to stalled planes, my opinion is: “YES!”

Will the AI traffic taxi around and move the taxi signs and lights to thier correct location also?

Honestly I’m not sure what it means - amongst the issues and bugs, live traffic does taxi, take off and land… Albeit slowly and clumsily.

Just hope we get back to some reasonable traffic levels. The third party stuff is too disconnected from what’s going on.

It would be nice if not only live traffic, but offline AI is opened up to 3rd party developers to tweak. Seriously, if landing rollout and high speed taxi could be enabled, what a world of difference. Perhaps this will be enabled for all traffic by Asobo.

Yes FSLTL is amazing but as the developers of FSLTL note, they are still subject to the limitations/bugs of the ground flight movement system which is entirely controlled by MSFS core engine. These updates in SU11 are very welcome!!!

Hopefully this means that the absurd AI behavior can get a fix. The sim keeps improving and looks great in so many ways, but those airliners spinning around etc is a huge immersion breaker.

Personal Comments

This happens now since Asobo fixed the front-gear missing issue that prevented Departures. Even prior to that, Arrivals would make their way to the gates. I wonder if they meant to say “faster” because that the primary cause of stacked arrivals and Go-Arounds.

This kind of vague note is exactly why community expectations go crazy and will never match up to what Asobo has planned. What exactly is this meant to mean? the issues with the AI traffic system have been beaten to death in many long running topics and bug report threads. It’s not like they don’t have any feedback to target some fixes.

Would it hurt to put in some specifics? e.g. “AI aircraft no longer taxi slowly on runways”. Even something as simple as that.

I hope to see more detail on this in the upcoming roadmaps because it’s definitely something a lot of people will be looking forward to.

I, personally, dont think “Live” traffic is the main issue.

The basic (and the biggest) issue with traffic in general is its behavior.
There is no point in reducing live traffic injection delay and still have dancing aircraft on hold points throughout the airport / or ones doing flypast at 1000ft over the airport terminals.

As with most things on the sim, it got released half finished. The live traffic should of been tested and tested and tested, but it got tested and released with a “that’ll do attitude”. As it was mentioned, there’s only so much third party developers can do as they’re restricted by the sim itself. I’ll say to Microsoft/Asobo give third “trusted” party developers full access so they can do a real and proper job :+1:

Last year when I first tried MSFS after a 10 year hiatus from the series, the two most lacking features compared to FSX I observed were AI behaviour and ATC.

18 months later and they have not noticeably improved.

I am not confident these features are a priority for Asobo, so I expect little, if any, improvement in SU11.

I don’t have many hopes for AI traffic fixes because it’s bundled with the 40th ann update, which is very unfortunate.

Unlike SU10, the 40th ann has a deadline and this could make SU11 fixes sloppy. I hope I am proven wrong.

As others have pointed out, the AI traffic system has been plagued with silly problems, which weren’t even present in 2004 or FSX. A little dedication from the devs would solve most big problems.

The other thing is AI traffic suffers because of the poor airport maps over the world - that’s why we need the scenery gateway as well.

The other thing I really want is VFR traffic. The little fields are all dead. And I’d love to see much more activity below 10,000 feet.
