Live weather malfunction?

Yesterday there were scattered rain and clouds around my city.
I come in and select live weather… not a cloud to be seen.
Anyone else getting the wrong weather from the live weather engine ?

Yes, seeing the same issue.

I’ve been playing since Monday and using live weather and haven’t seen a single cloud in over 1,400 miles and I flew in areas with thunderstorm warnings. Something is really wrong.

Live weather is busted. Just waiting on something from MS to at-least acknowledge the issue.

Someone said he had problems with weather once he changed airport so I rebooted and here I am looking at the freshly opened game.
The 3d map shows some cloud wich are simply not there in real life.
Plus, there is a big depression coming near my city and nothing to be seen there ingame.
My guess is something is off.
While playing with the Flight conditions on the 3d map, nothing changes with the filters.
Still hope it will work ingame sometimes, or a fix.

so far so good, I selected the Live weather BEFORE loading the game (both for live weather and live time)
Somehow I had a UTC minor bug and it got fixed. Now its showing my true timezone.
And right now i’m flying ingame while looking at (real life radar images) wich seem to be trully depicted ingame :).
More tests needs to be done

oups, nope, ‘clearly not working’.
Hope its fixed quickly

Honestly I have been impressed by how well live weather works around Spain, it might have to do with the meteorological info available in the area or a conection issue, for me it is working flawlessly

Can you elaborate on the settings you think that could help?
It’s a new game and I tend to not see every settings at first.

I did not mean the settings but that your download speed might be blocking part of the weather info you are supposed to receive.
It might also have to do with meteorologic stations not providing accurate info on your area or with a short interruption in Asobo’s server.
I don’t know what is causing it, but I can assure you 2 days ago I went to Bilbao and there was a storm that stretched from Burgos to Bilbao, exactly in the same place as in real live.
I also flew around Madrid after a heavy rain and the city was cloudy, rainy in some parts, and with beautiful rainbows.

So the weather seems to be working as far as I have seen.

The live weather in Europe is in far better shape than the rest of the world. From what I have seen, most people who are reporting good experiences with live weather are flying in that region.

here is a picture over the Atlantic ocean near Europe.
Clearly not the same.

It looks like the information available for the game is simply wrong.
Can anyone post a picture of over The Atlantic for me please ?

The active hurricane south west of california seems to be depicted in the game tho.

So if there are some part reliable and other that arent, I guess no options would make it that way.
A simple bug somewhere.
ill wait that one out I guess.

Seems to work to some extent. Just thought I’d explore Scilly (south west tip of England). Actual TAF:

TAF: EGHE 201159Z 2012/2018 19030G40KT 9999 SCT030
TEMPO 2012/2018 20035G50KT 6000 SHRA BKN014
PROB30 TEMPO 2017/2018 3000 +TSGR

…and the approach instructions from ATC

Chucky the AI autopilot flew a brave and bold approach, crabbed all the way to the threshold and on ruddering straight, blown sideways right into a tree. Guess we exceeded the crosswind limits.

As for the weather, wind about right, clouds - not bad, and there were indeed some showers visible over the sea to the right (didn’t get these in the screen grab).

Flight was 1400Z by the way

Just to point out, the “live weather” in sim is based on the meteoblue forecast. For example, if live radar is showing rain over Paris, but the meteoblue forecast didn’t predict rain in that exact location, then it won’t be raining in-sim, even if the live weather is working. I don’t think this design decision has been articulated well by Asobo.

Why would it be based on the forecast? That makes no sense. It’s live weather, not live predicted weather. I think this issue is the biggest flaw in the game currently as it was one of the things I and many other people were most excited about.

especially that forecast never has been precised.

I know ingame you can select post weather,
Maybe they didnt find out how to switch from actual weather to forecast weather without to much of a hassle

Nope, it’s indeed live “predicted” weather. It’s disappointing, for sure, and will really change how we have to plan for serious flights. I think as the honeymoon period ends and we all start using the sim seriously, there’s going to be a lot more negative reaction from the community on this.
