Live weather smaller storms/precipitation non existent over sea/ocean

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: Storms and/or precipitation appear to be non-existent while flying off shore. Storms close to the shore or over land are ok (much improved lately thank you!) but then suddenly drop off once getting 10+ NM out to sea.

Did you experience this issue before you joined the Beta? Sometimes, but now it is always.

Provide specific location or coordinates: Over gulf of Mexico or Atlantic Ocean where real world weather showing pretty large storm cells over the area. I did not test other oceans but these two areas for now.

Provide time and date of the observed weather issue: 15 Jun 2025 13:45 UTC

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue? YES

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)? Every time now. Testing other areas of the oceans as well.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Start game in any area and either fly to the location of storms over sea/ocean or click on area in main menu map to enter game in that area (fly now)
  2. Large storm systems appear to be ok (storms over ~200NM in diameter), this is affecting the smaller but still significant size storms over sea areas. (i.e. isolated storm cells <~200 NM in diameter). The size is very subjective and needs further testing.

• spawning in the Gulf of Mexico, in an area where I am seeing clouds over the water, I can definitely see some cells with rain and lightnings.

The issue that has always been there is that Live weather in the sim does not always match with what you see on Meteoblue reports for the same time/location, or it can be delayed or data are missing: Live Weather Does Not Match

It would be nice to test the Gulf of America during hurricane season and see what happens

Yes but re-read my post, it is for areas smaller than around 200 NM. That storm area you highlighted is much larger and it is fairly close to land. Those are fine or “close enough”, as I said. I know things aren’t going to be 100% exact to what we see on Windy.com or whatever but if flying over land areas I find that the storms (no matter how big or small) are very much improved and showing as they should. It’s over ocean areas I’m talking about and the “smaller” more isolated storms.
