Good question. I think that the issue/bug is that future METAR doesn’t fit the MB model that don’t know what the future METAR will tell. If the weather were 100% predictable those future METAR would always fit the MB model. But we all know by now the MB model not always matches METAR. It’s an issue for us that don’t want the METAR to be noticable or disturb the MB model. I think nobody wants that but thats how it is and as long as weather is unpredictable we will notice when they add METAR into the model. As it is now they prioritized METAR over MB model. They should have added METAR on top of the old MB-model instead of integrate the METAR into the MB-model. If they added the METAR on top of the MB model we would have been able to toggle it off easy. An integrated METAR into the model means we are stuck with that until they add a second stream of the old 12 hour weather model data without the METAR. Hope that is possible.
I mean all the ugly clouds we see, the lack of thunderstorms and clouds type…basically most of the issues we discussed since su7!

I too think that at the end of the day VATSIM users are a minority, as the have been granted what they want so should we! not only because a toggle doesn’t take away from them, but also because we bought one thing before su7 and now we have something else! it would have been different if the current state of things was as such from the start…I would have not bought the sim!! now would like Asobo to please give us back want we saw and had from the start!
But i think the majority of users compares the weather with METAR. But a thing to understand is that a METAR never explains how the weather looks like. For example cloudcoverage= FEW (1/8 TO 2/8 cloud coverage), SCT (SCATTERED, 3/8 TO 4/8 cloud coverage, BKN (BROKEN, 5/8-7/8 coverage), and OVC (OVERCAST, 8/8 Coverage) Can someone explain how those states looks? In two locations with broken state will look completely different from eachother because it doesn’t mention how thick the clouds are or what type of cloud it is. That means we can’t compare a METAR with real world conditions either because it doesn’t mention all of the details of weather. I bet really few users of flight simulators compare a METAR with real weather because if they did they would notice METAR doesn’t match real weather either 100%.

Same for me, I also came across from this other topic. Right now almost every flight looks similar. Either clear skies or SCT or BKN CU (with no variety in the overall look) at almost always the same levels. Seeing those videos in comparison I think there’s been lost a lot on the way. Even if now it might fit more to the pure info given in the METAR, real world is more diverse than those two lines of compressed and simplified information could ever contain. Take my vote.
If MS/Asobo wanted to make some extra money they could put a pause on Local Legends and make an addon that brings back the original sims cloudscapes and colors/shading. I’d buy it in a second and it’d be great to have choice. I keep waiting for the new cloudscapes to get dramatically better but so much of it always looks so similar.

How much Asobo even try to get the weather perfect accurate to real conditions they will fail. Because it’s an impossible task to achive 100%.
A task they could have achived is to make the things we had at release that they suddenly completely changed as an optional feature.
Now i don’t know what they will suddenly remove/change in MSFS 2024 and that makes me much less hyped for MSFS 2024.
Can’t understand how this approach can be good choice for the users if they want to make a flight sim for all kinds of sim pilots.

True, though NEXRAD comes from ground stations I believe, transmitted via data link to the GPS. What I was showing was weather radar. The TDS750 doesn’t even support NEXRAD as Asobo haven’t yet exposed that data for developers to utilise.
But it does make sense that the single source is being used to generate the weather radar image as that’s all we really have to go by.
Will this be in MSFS 2024? I want to see all those forecast based weather layers meteoblue provide and improve over time.
The METAR issue on is just back in 2024, out of the blue today the dreaded metar bubble and clouds are back in game, please Asobo, give us the option to switch it off in live weather I tried to play with historical weather, like 3 hours back from real time in the hope that it would bake a difference, but sadly not!
