Loans in Career Mode

As some have pointed out, your career mode progress can get set back drastically from just one plane crash at the wrong time, making you have to grind out tons of low paying “employee” flights, and the next big certification might be behind thousands and thousands of credits, representing hours and hours of doing the types of missions you’d rather not. Also grinding out for your own plane would also be an ungodly amount of time.

As a way to get people to more easily get to the paystyle they would like (for example airline flying), I suggest that loans should be available. Other “career” 3rd party mods have this, and it’s a great way to jumpstart your game and get you into the kind of flying you would like, while having the penalty of needing to pay off the loan while you do it. Perhaps opening a loan could be locked behind the reputation rank, making you prove you are a reliable pilot to be eligible for bigger loans.

Basically what it comes down to is I think people would rather “grind” in the seat of the plane they prefer to fly in order to build the company they want, rather than “grind” in a plane or activity they do not desire at all. Giving more options for the players to choose their path seems like the best thing.

Just curious. If you crash your plane and cannot afford repair, and you have to sell it, do you get discount for another cheap one?

As far as I know, No

I agree that loands should be a thing, but also the need to grind “employee” missions if you crash your plane are mostly needed if you just own one company and one plane. Starting your second company doesnt take too long once you have your first plane so I dont think its too much of an issue after a while.

I have enough loans in real life, I don’t want any in my digital fun time. :yum:

I’m told ‘insurance’ doesn’t work, so I plan to grind up my funds with well-paying (safe) missions until I have a 200k buffer. Then if the worst happens, I can pay for it. That’s the same as a loan, just in reverse.

How about career mode not be so punishing we need this to begin with? Not trying to be antagonistic with this comment. Just seems silly to me to go through so many hoops just to keep a system which is brutally punishing for essentially no reason.

Good wishlist item. I voted.
In my case they’d need to offer bankruptcy options, though.

Lol honestly with how harsh the career mode can be maybe they will implement loans, but then if you ever can’t make a payment they will start taking your planes :joy:

I can see it now: “New career offering! Airplane Repo Man!”

I have to disagree. If you’re crashing small aircraft, you’re not ready for the career mode yet. If you’re new to flight sim, check out the huge amounts of learning material for just about any aircraft in the sim on YT. The sim literally offers you the tools and basic learning material to win at the career mode. Don’t run before you can walk. The aircraft do not fly like they do in GTA.

Well if they do actually fix the “plane-crashing” bugs then I can agree with you, but at the moment it’s a bit easy for the game to screw you over.

See here: Wait until casuals wreck their first 2024 career mode airplane (details and spoilers)

A loan would just give the players another option to progress through career mode how they would like. Choosing to take a loan may end up not being as profitable when compared to taking no loans, but like I said it could put you in the plane that you want (or start a certain company that you want). My suggestion was not necessarily tied to those that crash their plane.

With all the career breaking and ending bugs in the sim, do you really think it’s a good idea to have loans? I think the only difference will be going from complaints about bugs, to complaints about unable to pay back loans taken to work around the bugs, only to have another bug bankrupt them a second, third, forth… time.

Loans, just as in reality, should not be used as a crutch. They can be a means to an end when used wisely, but the bugs need to be fixed first before that can be a viable option.

It’s called being self insured, and is a great spot to be in if you can do it.

Agreed, and I hope that there efforts would be focused on fixing the bugs before implementing any new features like this.

If i crash due to my own incompetence it is fine to be “punished economically” but when my progres gets stomped by the game crashing just after i finished a 3/4 hr haul with an S result. This causing my rep to go south when i get in the game again i see it count it as a failed mission… my patience is about done.

What career mode is missing right is a mechanism to obtain a loan from a bank so you can actually buy more expensive aircraft. This would alleviate the grind before you can get into aircraft you really want to fly in Career mode.

Yes, same multiple times (once after the first tornado mission; I am too scared to take another (went from S rating to C :frowning: ) … and then again just happened after I got an A cargo mission for no reason dropped me again from S to C… like WTF.

Hope something is happening soon🙂

Dont worry too much, grinding medium cargo, I switch from S to D and from D to S reputation after every flight. Dont focus/trust the reputation.

The bug keeps me at D really. Flying is fine but i only get ro keep after the small missions it feels. Every time i try some longer hauls. It crashes. Soo. Missing out on special missions

Instead of offering credits on loan or make players grind for 100s of hours, offer an aircraft lease system.

How is it different from the “Employee” Option?-
As an employee you work for someone else company flying their aircraft. If you lease an aircraft into your company and you operate it, you get the same credits as “Free Lance” minus an hourly rate paid to the owner of the aircraft that you leased it from. Yet you are still responsible for fuel, insurance, crew etc (ACMIF as we call it in the industry)

Can be leased on a time basis or hourly basis. Once they are up, the aircraft’s contract would have to be renewed, or aircraft removed from fleet.

An intermediary income if you will.

This gives us more opportunity for example to lease a 737 and fly missions with that which in the long run will help us afford one of our own. (Eventually)

Then maybe one day us players will be able to lease our own aircraft to other players for a certain amount of time and generate income off of it similar to the passive income function.
