There is so much interesting to read about the aircraft at Wikipedia!
Truly a fun airplane!![]()
I think that was my comment and that’s not to imply this is the same model or developer. There were simply two different older YS-11 addons from literally 20+ years ago now that were pretty nice, so we’ve been waiting quite a long time to see yet another rendition of this aircraft.
I’m really hoping that inibuilds has timely updates for this model and they take feedback both here, on discord, and in their own forums. One user here represented that they won’t be making any updates due to how this plane was released (as a local legend) but I don’t believe that to be accurate.
For those on 2020, a Toa Domestic Airlines (TDA) repaint just appeared today on flightsim.to
I am also feeling optimistic about this YS 11. I don’t think MS/Ini can afford to disappoint the PS 5 contingent from the off. I think they will concentrate on improving this before December.
This aircraft looks promising. I’ll wait for the first few updates and then decide.
They confirmed on discord that the team is aware of reported concerns (guessing at least through discord and their forum, maybe here too) and will be working on updates. With that said, at least in the 2020 arena in my mind there are more quality of life wishes vs bugs, but what’s there should get fixed.
Check the iniBuilds EFB - Ground Services tab, I believe.
Great, thx
That set doesn’t show on mine, and I checked the in-sim Marketplace too.

2020 user here… There are a couple of things I took over to the iniBuilds forum, but have yet to get a real answer.
First, there are no passengers and no copilot in the '20 version. It’s not a huge deal, but in a plane that is not certified for solo flight, it seems odd that after five years of release, dev’s can’t get a pilot to show inside the cockpit.
Second is prop pitch. According to the manual, props are supposed to remain at fine pitch when the HPC levers are pulled to the cutoff position. And all the pics I see of parked aircraft reflect that.
Regarding the repaints, they aren’t for 2020 but I at least still see them for 2024. Recommend insuring your app is up to date, but the person who I presume is the author also just uploaded them to Flightsim.to anyway (again 24 only for now). UPDATE: It looks like they were just removed from the ini app and presumably moved to flightsim.to. I no longer see them in the app myself.
The copilot is visible for 24 but would be a nice EFB option for 2020, agreed. Also I agree with the incorrect prop pitch visualization, also noting that when shutting down even when not moving to feather they stop spinning quickly and feather automatically. Furthermore, the props can be stopped and the rpm gauges in the cockpit are still winding down.
Here’s a list I’ve compiled of all of the bugs that people have seen so far for either 2020 or 2024 between here, the ini forums, and what I can find on their Discord (searching Discord is terrible). Also included feature requests:
Systems:
Prop feathering logic - props are starting and stopping in a feathered position, and notably when stopping they are coming to a stop feathered quickly, even if HPC levers are not put into feather position. After props are stopped, one can still see the RPM gauges spinning down in the cockpit.
Fuel flow - showing 1000-1500ish pounds in cruise, where it should be higher based on the manual. UPDATE: Possibly non-issue correct based on other users experience.
Fuel trimmers - no impact on engine performance.
Engine overboost not possible - basing this on the old AFG model which said this was accurate behavior, but in this version you can slam the throttles around with no negative impact to the engines. If you did that in the FS2004-era AFG model either or both engines would autofeather (big round red light would light up in cockpit) and shut down.
Irregular RMI movements - rotating the selector knob results in skipping and irregular movements of the RMI gauge.
Altimeter thousands number drum - it does not rotate properly to the next number in line with how close you are to the next thousand feet in altitude. The hundreds numbers gradually rotate over as you climb/descend, but the thousands digits only quickly snap over when the actual altitude has been achieved. As a result, one can be between 8900 and 9000 feet for example and the altimeter will indicate 8000 feet.
Cockpit Lamp Brightness selector also illuminates main panel gauges - I think this needs a function confirmation with the real aircraft, but the day/night (bright/dim) selector for the cockpit lamps on the main panel when selected to bright mode also provides more gauge and label backlighting in orange for the gauges in the surrounding main panel region. I would expect that of the rheostat knob on the overhead vs the lamp bright/dim switch setting, so maybe confirm function with real manual.
Sounds:
Missing high pitched RR Dart engine “scream” - The internal engine sounds actually sound pretty good and you can hear the scream/whine/pick a name a bit at idle while inside, but it’s almost completely missing in external view. Look up some YS-11 vids on youtube to see what I mean.
Doors and stairs quiet in external view - they make sounds when in cockpit view but when observing from outside are silent.
Textures:
Missing Maritime grey livery in 2020.
Overhead fuel pump mislabel - No. 1 tank has a main booster and emergency pump, No. 4 tank has a main pump and an emergency booster. Both should be consistent regarding what’s a pump and what’s a booster. UPDATE: Non-issue it seems! https://askz.sakura.ne.jp/column/aircraft/ys-11/ys-11_cockpit_overhead_panel.jpg
Modeling:
Excessive LOD redraw calls at least in 2024.
Pilots disappear when at max external zoom in 2020.
Stairs/doors animation error when in Walk-Around mode in 2024. Cannot walk around with front stairs/doors open.
Other:
Shadow issue - at least in 2024, when the props are rotating they still show a static prop shadow. Not sure about 2020 (didn’t notice).
Feature request:
Blue cockpit option - maybe selectable via EFB. We have a grey cockpit, but many operators used a light blue one.
Bind Condition/HPC levers to hardware - self explanatory
Paint kit - self explanatory.
Copilot visible in VC in MSFS2020 - maybe selectable by weight or EFB option. Apparently works in 2024 but not 2020.
Freighter variant - self explanatory.
I’ll assume inibuild is re-arranging them and should be back soon. I think the same ones in flightsim.to are there without permission from a user with no upload history or making prior liveries. I’m glad I downloaded all five of them when I had the chance.
Yeah it looks like they have been removed for me also.
Is there something I have to toggle to get the copilot to appear. My copilot’s seat is empty in this aircraft. I have a copilot appearing automatically in other aircraft eg Fenix. I’m on SU4 beta.
Does anyone else have issues starting from cold and dark on Xbox? When I load in the engines keep turning over by themselves, then keep fluctuating when I do the full engine start procedure.
The avionics also don’t switch on till engine start but keep flicking on and off so I can’t program a flight
I don’t think it’s supported (yet) in 2020 but I believe it should work in 2024 and is weight based or EFB based.
I just did a flight in MSFS 2024, I was cruising at 17,000 feet engines at 14,200RPM and I was consuming 1,300lbs per engine, 2,600lbs in total which seems to be correct according to the manual.
Awesome - just going off of user comments which may be incorrect or correct. Relying on the dev team to know.
You may be experiencing something I see in some (not all) gauges. When continually scrolling either the OBS or heading bug knobs, after a short time, they switch from 1° increments to either 5° or 10° increments. I think I’ve seen this in the YS-11, but I’m not 100% sure because I haven’t really paid close attention.
I noticed this too, so I did some digging. I found a page that I suspect the dev’s also found that matches what they painted on the panel. Site:
I’m still not convinced it’s completely right. It could have been a translation error from an older Japanese panel.
Regarding the RMI, just noting other’s feedback.
Regarding the panel, will consider that a non-issue based on real world evidence! ![]()
