Location of Splash Screen - Loading Screen - Carousel in MSFS

Hey all,

Anyone know where this is? Its one of the MSFS boot screenshots. I would love to find it.
Google Images thinks its ‘Black Rock’ desert.

Near the Black Rock was my first guess. If not there, you’re still in Nevada.

It’d be good if those loading screenshots had a little caption in the corner.

I want to hazard a guess and say somewhere in Utah, the ground behind looks kinda salt flat-like but @Betabraaap is likely right as it does look like somewhere in Nevada. Perhaps do a sweep over the state and see what happens.

It’s Desert Peak in the Great Salt Lake Desert in Utah, USA. Here’s a screenshot taken in Bing Maps.

The exact location is Lat: 41.0231962497133 / Long: -113.374566659669

Wow, you lined that up perfectly, great job. Oh, and yay me, I’m not even American and shot real close there haha

Thanks Shack. Off to check it out later this morning. Cool rock formation.

You‘re welcome. If you have other places from official screenshots you‘d like to know, feel free to ask. Most of them have been identified.

Thanks for the offer. This one is also in the screensavers group in MSFS. Looks like a sunset on Mars. Any idea’s?

It looks like so many places all at once doesn’t it? Would it be wrong to suggest somewhere in Arizona? Definately has a Sedona look to it to more than anything to me. There are spots here in Australia that briefly resemble this look. I think anywhere in Africa or Europe can be ruled out. Not Asia including Russia surely. This one’s a mystery. I’d be keen to know now, hope someone nails it.

I tried to find it but gave up. There are just too many places that look a bit like that. My bet would be somewhere in northern Africa or in the Middle East.

Thanks anyway Shack. Loving that area on the first question on this post. Brilliant mountain range.

Does anyone know where the island airport shown in the opening splash screen is located?

Thanks

That’s historic Henderson Field on Sand Island, Midway Atoll.

Interesting trivia - arrivals are limited to evening hours August to October due to migrating Albatrosses.

However, it’s a great place to practice any plane, and almost any procedure sans ILS, no ILS, but RNAV process in sim, and most planes can do it, takes you out a way before turning you around. I test 787 and 747 and freeware C-17 there all the time. I have NOT checked to see what updated things have been done it’s been while since I was flying there.

FWIW-Little trivia, aftermarket scenery for FSX, has a B-52 sitting in the taxiway being loaded out with munitions, it’s real enough, if you hit it, you have crashed. Cannot remember where I got it, but have it installed in my FSX, since I also fly Virtavia’s C-17 there to test procedures. I also used PMDY for a stop for fuel on my Afghanistan evac flights I did a few months ago using the C-17. Cannot remember if I had flairs to eject. Kept all the Flight Plans, as I went through India and Indonesia instead into Europe. Stopped in Cubi Pt, Philippines (used to be USN Base/seaport) there, now civilian airport. I spent month there working at our detachment office as special ground crew for C-118/C-130 Operations in 1973. Oh, you can get the charts from Sky vector for that location as I have them, not up to date. Assume, Navigraph and all the other sim sites have them as well.

Thank you so very much for the quick reply, can’t wait to give it a try tomorrow.

You are welcome, fond memories of the location, the work and the town. Way different based on pictures than when I was there. Enterprise was docked at Subic Bay, off loaded air group, on F-4 blew tire landing, so the rest of the planes just went straight up with Afterburner, never seen something move so fast.

Stupid question but why can’t the albatrosses arrive in the daytime?

Wasn’t Henderson Field on Guadacanal?

Yes, Henderson field was on Guadalcanal. Midway has Sand Island but called it also Henderson field as I remember.

See this link: Henderson Field (Midway Atoll) - Wikipedia

Please take the time to read about the accidents there. I can attest that the 747/787/C-17 in MSFS can land and take off from there with plenty of room. Very limited facilities, and no IFR period, no VOR either, just use RNAV approach, MSFS has the data in World Map.

Can someone tell me which airport this is?
