As I continue my journey through MSFS with my goal of flying airliners for a VA, I was wondering if anyone has recommendations on a logbook application?
I was actualy debating just buying a real log book and recording that way but was curious if anyone had any digital utilities they like.
I fly all my flights using Volanta. It logs each flight (block and flight), distance, fuel burn, date. # of pax, landing rate/force/speed. Shows the route flown (textual and on the map) and you are able to upload screen shots. Give it a try.
I used the free version of Volanta for a while too. Quite nice looking and had some cool functionality.
Little NavMap also records your flight data and it too has a lot of functionality.
Used them both at the same time for a while. Both had their pro’s and cons…
Volanta sometimes had some disagreements about the existence of airports. (I fly a lot of very small rural strips) but they continue to develop it so that will improve over time.
Little NavMap gets its data from the sim so if it’s in the game its in LNM.
However…at one point I managed to delete my entire flight history. I could probably avoid this with back ups, not poking around with things I barely understand and…well it was almost certainly pilot error.
Volanta for me. Lots of nice features including flight/hours logging, stats for hours/aircraft usage/miles flown etc, moving map during flight, challenges such as countries visited…
I had some time to look around Volanta last night after purchasing, very impressive and feature rich. Pretty cool with all the networks tied in being able to see everyone elses flights and I enjoy the screenshot feature as well.
Looking forward to using it when I start flying the Airliners!
Since I’ve been using Volanta the last 6 months or so, they’ve also added some features such as additional challenges and the caches to find. I like that it’s an evolving platform. I use it in conjunction with LNM most of the time.
What’s the trick to getting Volanta to detect my flight? I’ve made two flights now and neither time was it detected by the app, it just tells me to “Start your simulator to automatically begin your flight”.
