No you are not missing anything. I downloaded the Logitech link app. It’s the same one released for MSFS 2020 that you only had to run once and then the Logitech switch panels worked fine. However, for MSFS 2024 they don’t work. I know some people say this link solves the issue, but that’s not true in my case and I have read dozens of other veterans of MSFS report the same negative experience.
Also, the entire menu options for the controllers if just the worst interface I have seen in any flight sim game. I’m not a newbie to this stuff. I’ve played every MSFS title ever released (yep, I’m that old). And this is the first time I feel like I really cannot even play the game after a week of working with it.
I’m really bitterly disappointed in Asobo Studios and Microsoft. This title simply was not ready for public release.
That’s not working for me. Manually starting the link app does not work to have MSFS 2024 recognize the Logitech switch panel nor to even activate it when the game is started.
Try running it as admin. (Right click: run as administrator)
If that fails make sure you have the switches after the exe:
“C:\Program Files\Logitech\Microsoft Flight Simulator Plugin\LogiMicrosoftFlightSimulator.exe” --run --force
The exe.xml file for FS2020 on my system had entries for my Logitech radio panel, GSX (the couatl script engine), and Nool VDGS. The exe.xml file for FS2024 had an entry only for GSX. So I simply copied the relevant entry for my Logitech panel from the FS2020 file and pasted it into the file for FS2024.
Good for you!
In my case, only the upper panel is lit, and the bottom panel doesn’t work at all.
While with Spad.next, I have even mapped zoom in and out for the G1000 map.
But I’d love to set it up as per your instructions. Care to share?
I did install the plugin, or run it, can’t remember, but it didn’t do much. Any extra steps you took to make every button and display functional?
Like for example, setting the Transponder and such.
I have never used spad and all 6 of my FIPs and my radio and multi panel work just fine (I don’t use the switch panel).
The only important thing is that the “LogiMicrosoftFlightSimulator.exe” must be run with the run and force commands/arguments ( --run and --force in the shortcut’s target box).
You may have to run it AFTER loading the sim - for some reason that is occasionally necessary. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
From one older person to another. I got Spad.nex and that solved the problem. Works great and easy. They have a trial period. Don’t know what it cost yet.
I gave instructions a few posts up-thread. But to reiterate, I located the exe.xml file for FS2024 and added the command to launch the Logitech plug-in when I load into the sim. This is what my XML file looks like, with the relevant portion highlighted. Of course, the path will vary based on where you have the Logitech plug-in installed on your system.
