Logitech Flight Radio Panel

I recently added a Logitech radio panel to my sim running windows 10 with FS 2020. When I plug it in, my computer knows it, but nothing lights up and the sim does not recognize it. I downloaded and installed the Logitech plug-in MSFS 8.0.313.0, it gave no indication of being properly installed and no instructions for turning on the panel.

Next, I downloaded, installed, and ran SPAD.next (trial version) with no results either. It has settings for the radio panel but no indication that it recognized the installed unit. I have tried turning on the avionics switches on my Honeycomb Alpha thinking that may power this up, nothing.

So at present, after hours of messing around with it, I have a radio panel which is cold and dark. A couple of questions are:

  • Should the digital display illuminate when plugged in, or does something is the sim (like the avionics switches) need to activate it?
  • At what point does the display illuminate?
  • Is there any sort of status light to indicate a power supply?

By contrast, just today I received my new Logitech Throttle quadrant to replace my old one, which had stopped working. I plugged in in and it worked right away with default settings. I remapped the toggle buttons no problem, complete plug and play.

Anybody here have experience with this unit and how to get it functioning properly?

Those panels have a tendency to go to sleep when not in active use.

SPAD should assist with this, and offer to turn off enhanced power management for those devices. They will turn on if you turn on the SPAD test mode, but really they only do anything when the sim is running.

For SPAD you also need to have a profile for each plane, or start with a default one that covers the bases. The software has a way of browsing for those and download them.

It’s going to be a bit of an uphill struggle learning these, but my advice would be to pick simple plane like the 172, search in SPAD for a 172 profile, and dig in to it, see how it works.

Try starting a flight see if it lights up

I found the panel lights only activate once the aircraft has been selected. I found also that with the CRJ, the Logitech frequency selectors do not change the radios in the CRJ, but v.v. the CRJ settings DO change the Logitech frequencies. Can’t yet find a solution for this.

try plugging it into a usb socket that is connected to the motherboard some of these controllers are funny about which usb you use i also have a feeling they should atleast be the blue 2.0 usb minimum.

Hi sorry you are having issues with your panel.

You mentioned downloading the Logitech plug-in MSFS 8.0.313.0 but [and forgive me for asking if
have] you did double click on the ‘Logitech Microsoft Flight Simulator Plugin’ icon that should now be on your desktop, BEFORE firing up the sim, didn’t you?

Regards.

Had the same issue as the OP. Did this, problem solved!

Should add the radio panel only lights up when you start a flight.

No I did not double click on the desktop icon because there is no desktop icon, nor were there any instructions to look for one or do this. I cannot find a single word of instruction about the use of this plugin.

In addition, to some of the other replies here, I have started a number of flights to try to get it to start up, always dark.

Go here:

Click on ‘show all downloads’ to expand the list and near the end look for this:

Flight_Panels_x64_Software_8.0.150.0

With this you can test the functionality of all your panels independent of MSFS 2020.

Have you got the logitech tester app to see if it will light up with that would eliminate the usb socket being the issue. ha posted at same time I had the same issue when got the radio and multipanel. just switching the usb sorted it.

I have repeatedly downloaded this and others of the plugins, when the install finishes (about 2 seconds) it just disappears and there is no desktop icon, and searching through the programs in the START menu has nothing either. I am left with absolutely nothing to click on or drill into, like the download never even happened.

You guys are all much better with software than I am, any ideas where on my computer I can look for this stuff ?

Right!
First, I would like to reassure you that your kit will work. So don’t give up!
I would suggest going back to first principals.
Go to 'Control Panel, and click on ‘Devices and Printers’.
If your panels are connected properly [windows will ping and notify you of this as you plug each one in],
you should be able to see their respective icons here. Is this the case?

Also are you plugging your panels into the yoke? And if so have you plugged a ‘separate’ power supply into the yoke as well?

Yes, the radio panel shows up in 'Devices and Printers" which also says the device is working properly. None of the devices are plugged into the yoke because I am using a Honeycomb Alpha, not the old Saitek.

All my USBs are either plugged into the back of the computer or into a USB 8 port hub, which is not having any problems with any of the other devices. At present, the radio is plugged directly into the computer.

What I need to find & solve is what happened to the various Logitech plug-ins I have installed, they simply disappear and leave no icon or any other trace they were installed.

Guess what ? Just out of nowhere, the panel lit up ! I didn’t do anything different than what I have done quite a number of times ? Working perfectly, thanks for your help !!!

Well, that’s good news.
Though I haven’t done anything to that end.
For the record this is where my Saitek utilities have installed themselves:

Good luck.

program files/logitech/microsoft flight simulator plugin

So Saitek panels seem to have an issue with enhanced USB saver feature of Windows 10. Go to this archived page (original since has been removed) to download the utility. Right click and run as admin and it will find any SAITEK devices and disable the reigstry for usb power saving for you. If you ever move the devices to another USB port you will have to rerun it again. Fixes especially issues with the Saitek Instrument panels not working but applies to any SAITEK equipment.

SAITEK USB WIN 10 Enhanced power saving disabler

is this likely to fix my problem outlined above?

First: Use Spad.Next for your Saitek-Panels, DONT install the Logitech drivers, no need to if you use Spad.Next. It could lead to conflicts.

Second: in Spad.Next click on your panels and set “virtual Power” to ON. Also make sure the plane has power to get the Radio panel to light up.

Third: My radio panel works out of the Box with the CRJ, but as the CRJ doesnt use default simconnect-commands, all the other panels have to be manually configured with LVAR commands. Some things might work out of the box with 3rd party planes, but by far not everything.
