Logitech/Saitek Radio panel not working in MSFS2024

Description of the issue:

Since the release of MSFS2024 the Logitech/Saitek radio panel has not been working. It worked correctly in MSFS2020.

Note: This issue was opened after MSFS2024 launched but was closed without a fix by MS/Asobo. The community found workarounds as usual and depending on their level of knowledge/expertise, some users managed to get the panel to work.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Issue occurs every time on sim load.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Start MSFS2024 and go in Free flight.

  2. Power up the aircraft (example C172, SR22, etc.) at an airport of your choice.

  3. The radio panel will either be blank, not responding to input, essentially not communicating to the sim to reflect a COMM frequency change for example.

YOUR SETTINGS

Issue occurs with no mods and add-ons.

Peripherals in use: Honeycomb Alpha, Beta, Orion rudder pedals, Logitech radio panel.

Not using Developer Mode or made any changes to it.

GPU AMD 9070XT.

No other relevant PC specs to share.

MEDIA

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

If you mention that the community has found workarounds, it’s important to also include links to the sources. That’s very important so other users know where to look for verified solutions.

I have not encountered this problem. Do you have also the switch panel?, if yes, switch off Bat, Alt, and Avionics and switch on them and look if this works.

This was an issue from the start, I have to run a small exe file when I start 24 and that fires the panels into life when the sim starts.

If I forget to run this then the panels stay dead, so its a good reminder to me to then run it!
I would have found the solution here somewhere!

I assume the OP post is just mentioning this as there is still no ā€˜official’ fix.

Do you mean the Logitech MSFS plugin?

Sorry, not home now to check …
All I remember (it was a long time ago!) was it was was a small routine file that made it all work!
Saved it to my desktop and I click on that, then 2024 and away I go!

I expect if I searched on here again I could find the details!

To clarify, this issue was never officially fixed by MS/Asobo hence the various workarounds still in use since 2024 launched.

Here’s the link for the old post:

Cheers.

Thank you for this report. We’ve moved your topic into the User Support Hub.

The Bug Reporting Hub is for posting suspected or confirmed bugs that other users are able to reproduce without duplicating an existing bug report. Using the template or providing all the relevant information about your bug and sim setup is required in order to provide valuable information, feedback, and replication steps to our test team.

If you are not sure if your issue is a bug or need further input from the community, please use the User Support Hub category. If the community can replicate your issue, first search the Bug category to see if there’s an existing topic. If it already exists, contribute to that report. Duplicate bug reports will be closed.

On Asobo side everything is working correctly - there’s nothing to fix if it isn’t broken. The responsibility lies with Logitech to update their plugin so it’s fully compatible with both MSFS 2020 and 2024.

For now, you have two options: edit the exe.xml file and add the necessary lines

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="SimConnect" version="1,0">
	<Descr>SimConnect</Descr>
	<Filename>SimConnect.xml</Filename>
		<Disabled>False</Disabled>

		<Launch.Addon>
			<Name>Logitech Microsoft Flight Simulator Plugin</Name>
			<Disabled>False</Disabled>
			<Path>C:\Program Files\Logitech\Microsoft Flight Simulator Plugin\LogiMicrosoftFlightSimulator.exe</Path>
			<CommandLine>-r</CommandLine>
		</Launch.Addon>

</SimBase.Document>

so the plugin launches with MSFS 2024, or start the plugin manually after launching MSFS 2024.

It was my understanding that you (Asobo) were in contact with the various OEMs in solving the various software and hardware issues in both sims (2020/2024).

We saw this in the numerous sim release notes; recent example ā€œAdded support for Honeycomb Aeronautical Alpha Liteā€.

The thing is, the radio panel does work just fine in MSFS 2024. The issue is that the Logitech plug-in doesn’t start automatically unless you, the user, either start it manually or simply add the necessary lines to the xml file as discussed up-thread and in at least a few other threads. Logitech may or may not ever update their installer to recognize MSFS 2024 - after all, this radio panel hardware is not a new product by any means - but the problem of the plug-in not running automatically is very easy to solve.

Copy, thanks.

Cheers.

I contacted Logitech and this is what they responded:

ā€œā€¦as of now, we have not received confirmation from management regarding any upcoming updates to the Microsoft Flight Simulator plug-in to make it compatible with the 2024 version. For your reference, the last update to the plug-in was released on December 29, 2020.ā€

ā€œā€¦As an alternative, you may consider using SPAD.neXt, which may offer compatibility with the 2024 version.ā€

Consequently, I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone. Their lack of support and expectation that users will rely on third party sw is most disappointing.

It works for me in 2024 with Logitech Radio Panel. It appears the same in my 2024 exe.xml file as it did in 2020.

Hi,

Do you need to modify your exe.xml after an update?

Not after an update, but after a re-install if that becomes necessary for some reason. The only reason for editing the exe.xml was because the HC Bravo did not have a 2024 driver for the button lighting features. HC/Aerosoft subsequently issued a 2024 version that simply updates its software to load into the 2024 exe.xml. I would try just running the Logitech MSFS driver again to see if it adds the appropriate lines to the 2024 exe.xml, If that doesn’t work, copy the 2020 exe.xml into the 2024 location and see if the audio panel works.
