Longitude KGs units

Is it possible to swicth fuel qantity units to KGs? I tried in the avionics settings, but didnt changed on the display.

Someone on the Working Title Discord asked the same question, and the official answer is that the real unit does not convert to KG on that display, so no, I don’t think so. I think that is known as a “Garminism”

Yes indeed that was the answer. It’s flawed though. The response is related to the fact that every real one has it fixed on lbs, but for an international home flight sim it’s a very strange decision to be so rigid like this. I’m all for realism but sometimes there are practicalities that can be applied in the sim that would not detract from that. This is one of them.

Maybe every real one has it in LBS because KGs is not an option?

Hello,
Please do not use the Bug Reports category to ask questions. Bug Reports is for when you are fairly certain that there is actually a bug. If you are not certain, then the place to go is Community Support, where I have moved your topic.
If you do log a bug, then when doing so, please do not delete the bug template. You are supposed to fill that out. It is there for a reason.

Personal opinion:
I honestly don’t find anything strange with following the real system as closely as possible. Why would they fantasize additional settings that aren’t there irl?

Then one can argue to make every unit configurable. Speed in km/h, vs in m/s and so on.

Actually all Citations with G5000, you can change from KG to LBS, but it isn’t approved for all models to
Operate with.

As I suspected. Thanks for the clarification. Like I said very strange not to include the different fuel units.

Fuel units probably more than any other other than perhaps baro is different around the world in many countries so it absolutely makes sense to have it be selectable to the units from where you buy your fuel, Kg’s or Litres. It’s not fantasy at all and even if it were it would be a worthwhile adfition for the home simmer just like many of the other things that are selectable in the sim. Why not fix live weather and remove all the assistance settings as well for the sake of realism. But no those are offered as a choice and this would fit that mantra. However it seems its now been confirmed that the real one has this anyhow.

According to the folks at Textron Avionics Engineering who designed the EIS, the Block 3 C700 Longitude is not changeable in this way. They confirmed that all shipped C700s display only in imperial units on the EIS regardless of destination of export and it is not possible to change.

Once again I consider this point irrelevant. Whether true or false. There are examples of things that the sim has that you can’t do IRL so let’s not use this as a reason to not provide a simple feature that simmers would benefit from.

I understand your frustration. However, we don’t plan on adding any features not present on the actual avionics. Thanks.

To clear up some miscommunication here, we have conferred with the manufacturer, and while the Garmin unit itself is technically capable of changing these units in a maintenance/installer-only system settings area, the Longitude is not certified with this configuration and it is not to be used nor should it be simulated.

We greatly value our exceptional relationship with the manufacturer and as such we will not be adding such a configuration at this time.

Thanks everyone for the input and for clearing up the issue with the manufacturer. This is now closed.
