Looks like snow for Christmas!

Some metars will have snow coverage. Unreal mod occasionally will have snow on the ground with non coming down, do it is possible. If the company Asobo uses, meteoblue , has snow on the ground vteports, then it is possible.

As for leaves on trees, guess we will have to wait until seasons.

But if the snow on the trees shows a bit, that will look kind of cool, since we will see snow on the trees .

I do think the snowing graphics should look more like snow at times. Sometimes it looks like it is raining . Depends. But if metar shows +SN, it should look like white snow.

That being said, if itā€™s part of live weather, unless they have fixed it, I assume people will still have to hunt for snow since the actual weather can be hours behind.

Yes, I was just about to reply with this exact point (sorry, my brain was working a bit slower yesterday, after a (*) day of snowboarding)

Depending on the tree of course there should not be any remaining leaves hanging on the trees in winter - with or without snow. But according to other comments above ā€žseasonsā€œ should be coming next year in FS2020 (based on an official announcement / dev update video perhaps?). And with that I assume properly coloured / falling leaves as well.

(*) off-topic: The first and only day, for the foreseeable season: several cantons here in Switzerland decided to close down the skiing regions, due to more severe restrictions issued yesterday by the government (ā€žBundesratā€œ). Interestingly not only because of feared additional infections, but mostly in order to prevent skiing accidents which would put additional burden on the already overworked hospitals.

Never said it wasnt playable, I said its not a finished product. In my book a product thats not finished is a BETA or an ALPHA. I knew that before I bought it, but marketing got me, you see I was bored and had and extra $60 to waste due to the pandemic!

You can always load live weather, then save it and add snow to it after the fact. I dont know if the weather will reflect the changes in the further out regions of your flight though.

Live snow! Live rain would be a good start, Iā€™ve never once seen rain on live weather since day 1. Live weather is a joke and needs fixing.

There are myriads of phenomena that our planet either teaches or shows us, and snow is one of the most beautiful.

In winter time, even evergreen trees have their foliage rather brownish green or dark brown when looked at in a distance, so that color we observe is hardly as bright green as MSFS2020 summer textures currently are.

I am looking forward to the addition of snow. It will add to the realism again. Not only that, it also opens a myriad of new possibilities. Wouldnā€™t it be cool if someone could design a Savage Cub with a snow-shovel strapped to its side? Or add snow-clearing equipment to airports?
Opportunities to branch out in the future. ā€œAirport Snow Clearing Brigade Simulatorā€ awesome.

Sometimes these longer flights give you too much time to browse the forumsā€¦

Whatā€™s with the hate - chill out! I fly in the UK so rain should be a very regular live event. If I say I havenā€™t seen live rain once since I started flying when MSFS dropped them why call me a liar. Itā€™s been a well reported issue for many on here too. I can force the rain but never a drop has been seen using live weather.

Now the man has lost his job. Moral of the story, plan in advance and get organised. He wouldnā€™t have missed the delivery boat, wouldnā€™t have almost died, kept his job and his kid wouldā€™ve learned the reality of this world. Merry Christmas everyone!

The Cocoa-Cola commercial is a deliberately way-over-the-top spoof - like if the guy had just read his daughterā€™s card before he left for work rather than at the end of his trek. I like the cut-away shot to the girl at one point, looking all starry-eyed and beatific that Santa is going to grant her her Christmas wish!

I think the message is, delivered in as humorously a sly way as possible to avoid being preachy, that in spite of all and maybe in spite of all your screw-ups, your kids love you and need you for who you are - hopefully, their responsible and loving parents - and maybe the message is slyly that the guy (and we) should think of that in the beginning and answering that need to start with - rather at the end as the character ironically learned ā€¦! Merry Christmas to all! (or non-denominationally, Happy Holidays! Whenever in the year such family occasions may arise!)

Sorry, did not call you a liar. Figured with a name like Peach Comic that you might recognize a touch of humour.
I also agreed that some servers have had issues with real weather. Was merely pointing out that the server I am on seems to stream weather well. Just goes to show the varied experiences that a world wide server system can cause.
Apologies for ā€˜attacking youā€™. Wasnā€™t the intent.

If you expected high fidelity airliners straight out of the box, you had unreasonable expectations. MS has never made realistic airliners, because if they did the game would be too hard to ā€œplayā€ (especially for the pre-teens who are spending mommy and daddyā€™s money who would throw temper tantrums because they donā€™t have the skills to fly an accurate 747), which would cost them a lot of customers, and a lot of revenues.

Thatā€™s why companies like PMDG and their siblings exist in the first place. To scratch the itch to fly realistic airliners that only a few of us have and are willing to pay the price (that is frequently more than the base sim itself) to do so.

I am anxiously awaiting someone to take my money, and in the meantime I am very impressed with the Working Title CJ4 and have heard nothing but great things about the Fly By Wire A320, though Iā€™ve only flown it myself once and lack the skills (so far anyway) to do it right.

Iā€™m very grateful for the open source (meaning free) high fidelity jets and airliners, but I sure hope thereā€™s enough room for professionals in it for the money to still continue doing so.

I do not and have not expected such things out of Asobo or Microsoft, to the point that I donā€™t even bother with the default versions, and am content to wait for the professionals to do what they do.

In the meantime, I love the default 172s (especially the steam gauge version), the Carenado singles, and Iā€™m starting an illicit affair with the Baron and TBM. But thereā€™s only enough room in my skull full of mush to retain the proper knowledge to fly so many aircraft (properly, anyway) at the same time.

This board is so full of whiners, they could find a way to turn the best MSFS news that ever existed into a negative. Kind of reminds me of politics to a degree, but perhaps thatā€™s best left alone.

See, calling out the complainers will get your post censored. Typical. I bet the same thing will happen to mine.

Have you tried the FBW mod for the A320? Iā€™ve been having an affair with the WT CJ4, so I havenā€™t used the FBW A32X yet myself, but Iā€™ve heard nothing but great things about it.

Oh, and I donā€™t think that thereā€™s anything wrong with the autopilot systems in general. Theyā€™re just doing what theyā€™re programmed to do. But these crazy ivans are being caused by the data being used either being faulty itself, or being interpreted in a faulty way.

Unless youā€™re talking about something different, like 172s not landing themselves with the autopilot engaged. Of course, theyā€™re not supposed to. 172s donā€™t have autoland capability.

Yeah, I figure itā€™s a good thing Iā€™m not married given how much time I spend on MSFSā€¦

Yes, I have tried it. I have mixed feelings about it as I expressed in a totally separate topic.

Anyways, the biggest issue I had with the mod was that there was a very noticeable FPS drop when running it. While using the default A320, it ran perfectly smooth on my PC at high settings. Even at larger airports like KLAX, KDEN, KSFO, KEWR, etc. I was having no problems. Maybe there was the occasional stutter, but otherwise it was fine. With the FBW mod, I was suffering FPS drops at small airports, which was very frustrating. I even tried everything I was told to gain FPS back and it was still bad, idk why. I have a good PC, brand new in fact and other than MFS, completely clean.

Also, even with the latest dev version, I still experience AP issues. I thought the FBW mod was supposed to fix that, but it still gave my issues. It would bank left and right 30 degrees in flight when I engaged the AP. Also, it swayed left and right in flight which the default A320 finally stopped doing after they fixed it. Overall, the FBW mod didnā€™t blow me away and I ended up deleting it. I ultimately decided Iā€™d rather have high FPS even if I have to use the basic, default A320. I have to say, it was working really well for me before the USA update. Hopefully, the AP on the default A320 will be fixed soon to the way it was prior to the USA update when it completely broke, leaving it unflyable.

Never mind snow.
Will MSFS simulate volcanic ash clouds?
