Yes I noticed an increase at KDEN, KSFO and KPHX. Easily 25 or 30 aircraft or more.

Yes, noticed all over in Italy last night

Yep, lots of live traffic now. Much better than AI traffic which can lead to CTDs for me.

Well,
We have been complaining for months that the sky was empty

sure my FPS have dropped below zero and I have AI planes that land in front of me, passing me

in small steps, we will get there to perfection

I have a few areas I fly regularly. Some of those routes would have no traffic at all despite FA reporting many planes in the air. Over the past few days, I’ve seen a significant increase in traffic in areas that had little, and am now seeing traffic in areas that had none - like the region around my home airport.

I’m doing my first transatlantic flight today from Ireland to Gander. And I have seen NO - yes ZERO - live traffic over the Atlantic since leaving Ireland. I am about 45 mins away from coasting in over Canada. I have looked on flight aware and there are several aircraft in my vicinity right now.

Safe to say, it’s be a dull flight. Even with multiplayer on there has only been 2 other aircraft in the sky nearby in the last few hours!

Of course I have all the data switched on and live traffic enabled, before you all tell me to check!!

I saw one in Indonesia yesterday.

But one is better than the none in the week before.

I actually had a 5 min lineup yesterday at EHAM because of ai traffic. When looking at FR24 it was about 10-15 minutes ‘out of sync’.

Definitely an improvement!

Could it be it’s somehow related to liveries? I noticed an increase (from zero to two) after I had added two liveries (total of two now). I still don’t understand why I see so little, but I did notice planes at the gates. And sometimes - I don’t know if they do this on purpose - I get a plane taxiing in front of me, really slow
I usually speed around it to beat it to the runway

I only have ‘live traffic’ switched on. Nothing else.

Or maybe they close the airspace when I come flying
 :frowning:

There are (more or less) two traffic flows over the Atlantic
one east and one west bound. The eastbound flights leave in the morning (European time) and the west bound flights in the evening (American time) to arrive early in the morning (European time). All this traffic is organized via tracks, usually five routes separated by 60 miles, and they are at a different position every day. But if you’re there on the right time, it can be quite busy. This is a generalization but might help you find the traffic. Good luck!

Likely not. I’ve had the same 6 3rd party liveries installed for months now. Nothing’s changed and I’m seeing traffic in areas where there was none or next to none previously. There are just more planes in the sky. I suspect they’re scrambling to get their traffic servers up to snuff before the XBOX release.

I wish there was a slider to tone down the live traffic though. If you are landing at a busy airport you have a very good chance of getting a go around for landing.

I do feel it’s related to the areas one flies in. I was in China and South-East Asia a lot last week. Perhaps this emptiness is less in the U.S. or Europe? I guess they want to fix their primary markets first? Not sure if that’s too paranoid
but it might be a case of ‘follow the money’

It does seem to vary from region to region. Although these changes to traffic did seem to come just over the weekend. Last week, the skies were barren in my area, despite FA reporting many IFR flights in the air. Now, it’s fairly active by comparison. I rarely ever saw another plane in the area around CYOW before. And I was 3rd in line for landing on Saturday afternoon and had to do a go-around as a result. That was a first.

Areas like south Florida and SoCal, which typically had some traffic before, were just buzzing hives of activity this past weekend.

I can’t speak for other parts of the world, but I think we’ll be seeing an increase in traffic everywhere in due time. I’m just glad to see the skies getting busier now. Nowhere near what they’d be IRL, but it’s a noticeable improvement. Hopefully they can continue improving it.

First ten months complaint is “no live traffic”.

Next ten months complaint is “too much live traffic”

sigh

Hi @AndyXPO . Not sure exactly where Asobo get their live traffic data, but part of the issue could be based on traffic data type. Not all aircraft doing NAT crossings use ADS-B. While there can be good ADS-B coverage in the area, some positions will simply be out of reach since ADS-B relies on ground stations.

If you use a site like https://globe.adsbexchange.com/ and filter on ADS-B, you will notice many aircraft will be removed from the screen over the NAT. There are a few other formats like ADS-C, which is a “contract” non-continuous transmission of data using ATSU SATCOM - Typically between the aircraft and a station or airline company, and, MLAT. Here are examples:

1615Z All aircraft over the NAT - No filters:

1615Z Turn on ADS-B to filter only aircraft with ADS-B:

1615Z Now showing ADS-C aircraft using SATCOM to transmit positions on a “contract” basis:

So, if Asobo are using mostly ADS-B type data, you may be missing available traffic. Here’s a site explaining the difference between ADS-B and ADS-C: https://www.aviationmatters.co/ads-b-and-ads-c-differences/

I was under the impression they got their traffic data direct from Flightaware, hence my comparison shot, but nevertheless I think you might have hit on something there regarding ADSB. Thanks for sharing that research.
