When departing airports the frames are 60FPS but as you are approaching the destination air port
the FPS drop around about 25 FPS. Flight are about 1 to 2 hours long and has only happens since
I joined the Beta has anybody noticed this?

There are more objects in your field of view on approach so more work for the graphics card to do. This sounds like fairly normal behaviour?

As said this is only happening with the beta for me.

I agree , the current beta definitely uses more VRAM , lets hope it gets resolved with the next build , If there is another build …

Does this happen without the 3rd Party aircraft?

Yes with CJ4 from NZAA to NZCH.

Disabling Mods is always a fast and easy check considering how many times it’s a a Root Cause…

I agree, though it started after I Joined the Beta so if somebody can test and see if they have the same
FPS drop that would be helpful.

Is this with nza’s NZCH? No dount a beautiful airport but it loves frames. I arrived at NZCH in the fenix with no traffic at all and I was getting 17 fps taxiing back to the gate. I have a 5900x/3080ti/32gb ram. Loading in fresh at the gate, I’m seeing about 32 frames…once taxiiing, its mid 20s.

Auckland, by flightbeam, for comparison, I’m seeing around 50fps in the fenix loading in at the gate.

I honestly don’t think that this is a new issue. There are many topics about that already. I myself have had this problem since SU 3.

Agreed; this is definitely not a NEW issue… I’ve yet to notice a big difference on approach, though, so not sure it’s happening for me.

Some of the variation in performance could be caused by changes in AI aircraft behavior and density in SU12 beta, worth doing a test to rule that out.

Same here.
Departure 43 FPS
Arrival 25 FPS
Reload at arrival - 38 FPS

Very dramatic drop in FPS, was flying on VATSIM for an hour flight. Departure airport had my usual 40+ FPS. On arrival had 25. After the flight waited on the tarmac and closed vPilot…maximum FPS was 28. Ending the flight and loading the (TBM) again at the same arrival airport result in 38 FPS.

Yesterday, to test the new beta version, I flew from Mulhouse Basel airport to Oslo international with the PMDG 737. At mulhouse 45 fps, during the flight the FPS progressively drop from 45 to 25. At the arrival airport I was 19 - 20 FPS with keep stuttering.
Right after the flight I Reload Oslo airport with the same aircraft, I had a stable 45 FPS…

It appears that airliner flights over an hour long have FPS degradations even though I have never flown VFR for more than an hour

I fly almost exclusively in VFR and for flight times of about an hour because with long flights I always have framerate drops. It’s a shame because for me (but I see many have the same problem) the long flight has had this problem since at least the SU5.

The problem is not yet fixed. I hope Asobo fixes this long standing problem one day.

I just took scenic flights over New York City and Los Angeles and unfortunately found that the graphics performance has reverted to the level of the worst beta build before the 40th anniversary release. The 40th anniverary release was clearly the best so far in terms of performance and stability. The problem is mainly the photogrammetry cities.

The closer I get to the ground the latency and Mainthread usage goes higher. You can also see the FPS dropping from 56 to 33.
After a reload at the exact same location I am back at 57.

Same over here, its really annoying and its actually causing developers issues, cause people think that the addon airport they installed is the one causing the fps issue and stutters, making devs work for no reason. Even on default non-addon airports this happens as its shown above by (Tweak112) and its just NOT being taken serious.

Nobody here flies MSFS without any addons, cause lets be honest, default airliners and airports really aren’t great, and by the way, we cannot blame any of this devs when clearly the issue is something else, the fact this happens at any airport, with any aircraft, default or not, should already let you know that this devs are not the issue. Its pretty much impossible that all aircraft devs and scenery devs are somehow messing up something lol.

I’ve been testing all this week,

I tried turning off live weather: Didn’t work.

I tried photogrammetry off: Didn’t work. (The fps loss WAS lower but its still degrading by the time)

I also tried default: Still happens.

I’ve tried really basic community folder with just my plane, livery and the 2 airports I fly out and land on: Guess what! Didn’t work.

I’ve tried different GPU drivers: Didn’t work.

I mean, idk what else info is needed to this be acknowledged as a Sim issue

Oh, I forgot, I also tried DX11/DX12 and it has the same issue, DX11 being a little worst actually.

So yea, I mean there’s pretty much enough info right there to investigate whats happening. I don’t have screenshots but I also don’t have a reason to be lying about this specially when there’s others with this same issue and with proof.

Tweak112 did a great comparison there with default. If that doesn’t say to the devs this issue needs to be fixed then I don’t know what does. I run a 5800X3D with a 4080 and I suffer from at least a 20fps loss myself when I get to an arrival airport. This just isn’t a SU12 beta issue. This has been going on from previous Sim Updates it’s pretty frustrating when this happens on every flight. Even worse when you’re in a heavy fps situation like the Chicago or New York area. But until now a few of us have really started digging into this trying to find a root cause. Now it’s clear running default with this is clearly a bug within the simulator. It would be great if this could be marked as bug and fixed for SU12 or hopefully in a future hotfix.
