Hello,
it seems that there are 2 different sources of satellite imagery around LOWW Vienna airport and their border is running straight through the airport, which makes it look really bad, even when using scenery from Gaya as they don’t use custom terrain textures.
I would have to check. If you disable Photogrammetry, the issue disappears. It was introduced after Austria WU. Solution would be to either add an exclude for the Photogrammetry close to the airport, or add a custom Aerial image for the airport.
But agree, the issue comes from MSFS, theres just a very harsh line from PG to non-PG area.
Yeah well, from the stories I read about Gaya support I will not hold my breath and consider all their scenery abandonware, unfortunately…
I was thinking about just creating a scenery with exclusion polygon and using it together with Gaya’s airport. But i have never created a scenery for MSFS, so I’ll see how that goes and if it’s even possbile.
This is quite common now. The developers made a much better job of blending the photogrammetry areas with the surrounding textures when the sim launched, now they just dont do this and have this hard line instead. I love the new PG areas but would prefer to see them blending the old and new with rather more care than they are doing now.
As for Gaya, I think they produced ESSA which has been broken for 6 months or more!
Developers that have existing scenerys in PG-Area that was introduced after the scenery released, are removing their Aerial Image in updates, so it just uses the (mostly better blending) MSFS-Satellite Image. But there are some devs, that just dont care after the money was made…
Very true. But you would think a developer that has an ongoing contract with MS would be a bit more diligent if only so as not to potentially upset the people holding the purse strings.
Dear all, i tried to contact Gaya since over a year now. I never got any response from them. Never. Then i thought, i write to Orbx, cause they sell the software from Gaya. There was somebody called Sante.
He contacted Gaya, cause they turned off all comunication possibilitis, no forum, nothing on facebook, all gone and he gave me this answer from Gaya: “they’ve advised there are no planned updates to LOWW and the product is a stable and final release. If you have any further questions for them, I’d email them directly!”
The thing is, there is no email to Gaya. Or i didn’t found it. If somebody knows, please let me know. Thank you.
Sadly some developers are some of the rudest people I have come across in 25 years in business. The good ones respond to customers, even if its not necessarily to give the answer the customer wants to hear. Others range from ignoring contact completely to deleting critical comments of product with obvious and easily remedied errors or flaws. Lets just say that several developers will not get any further business from me as a result of their behaviour whereas the good ones continue to get my full support which includes regular custom as well as positive reviews.
In my experience, the rudeness stems from “you” questioning their artistic vision. That comes from pride. In the case of aircraft, “you” point out an instrument doesn’t work as it should, and it is sometimes met with disbelief initially, denial, then hostility. What makes it worse is when community members jump in to defend them, saying things like “Well, it’s not that sort of plane anyway”. My argument is if its in the model, then it should work properly.
In the case of scenery developers, they are playing a dangerous game, where their name can be tarnished based on their responses, or the lack of them. It amazes me that some developers are short sighted, and don’t seem to realise what harm they can do.
Yes, they might think that they already have my money, so who cares, I can’t be bothered to fix that glitch, or inaccuracy, but what they have ensured is no repeat custom. That $20 customer could have been a $40, or $60 customer. They are literally talking away money from their own pockets.
