Original Post in quotes below led to lots of helpful comments by other forum users.
At the end I provide the answer:
"I just found out (the hard way) that unlike MSFS 2020, purchased aircraft can have limits that prevent them from being flown in Free Flight in MSFS 2024.
"I purchased the Working Title’s Cesena Longitude as soon as the Marketplace was open yesterday after months of waiting for the shop to reopen.
"I then launched msfs-2024 for a Free Flight, only to find the Working Title version absent from the library. I then found out, (it’s in the small print) that the aircraft is limited for use to only one area within Career Mode. It cannot be used in Free Flight.
"A few users asked me if I had not noticed the category symbols in the Longitude’s listing that showed where it could be used. One user kindly included a screen shot of the category icons. No I had not because it appears that no such symbols are used in the Xbox version of the Marketplace. You have to read the fine print.
"The Marketplace was launched without any notification that I could find that there were limits to where you could use the aircraft purchased.
"And, once again, what the heck was Microsoft and Asobo thinking when they changed the Marketplace to add such limits?
"If I buy an aircraft I want to be able to use it anywhere. I can appreciate that there may be limits within Career Mode, but even then, if I have bought an aircraft that could fit the requirements of a mission in addition to those built into the sim, I should be able to use it.
"Regardless, I should be able to use any aircraft I have purchased in Free Flight period.
"Calling this a “wish” item is rather annoying as is having to take this approach. to fix such an oversight.
“I now have to wait for other forum members to vote for this correction before MS/Asobo will even consider it.”
UPDATE:
It turns out that the Working Title Longitude with Liveries which I paid for appears in the aircraft selector as an Asobo Longitude with only the default livery.
It does work in Free Flight.
MS/Asobo includes in their Marketplace an aircraft on offer with liveries by one developer, and deliver a version without liveries by another developer. I paid for the aircraft and for the liveries.
