Marketplace Offers Working Title Cessna Longitude with Liveries, Delivers Asobo Longitude without Liveries

Original Post in quotes below led to lots of helpful comments by other forum users.

At the end I provide the answer:

"I just found out (the hard way) that unlike MSFS 2020, purchased aircraft can have limits that prevent them from being flown in Free Flight in MSFS 2024.

"I purchased the Working Title’s Cesena Longitude as soon as the Marketplace was open yesterday after months of waiting for the shop to reopen.

"I then launched msfs-2024 for a Free Flight, only to find the Working Title version absent from the library. I then found out, (it’s in the small print) that the aircraft is limited for use to only one area within Career Mode. It cannot be used in Free Flight.

"A few users asked me if I had not noticed the category symbols in the Longitude’s listing that showed where it could be used. One user kindly included a screen shot of the category icons. No I had not because it appears that no such symbols are used in the Xbox version of the Marketplace. You have to read the fine print.

"The Marketplace was launched without any notification that I could find that there were limits to where you could use the aircraft purchased.

"And, once again, what the heck was Microsoft and Asobo thinking when they changed the Marketplace to add such limits?

"If I buy an aircraft I want to be able to use it anywhere. I can appreciate that there may be limits within Career Mode, but even then, if I have bought an aircraft that could fit the requirements of a mission in addition to those built into the sim, I should be able to use it.

"Regardless, I should be able to use any aircraft I have purchased in Free Flight period.

"Calling this a “wish” item is rather annoying as is having to take this approach. to fix such an oversight.

“I now have to wait for other forum members to vote for this correction before MS/Asobo will even consider it.”

UPDATE:

It turns out that the Working Title Longitude with Liveries which I paid for appears in the aircraft selector as an Asobo Longitude with only the default livery.

It does work in Free Flight.

MS/Asobo includes in their Marketplace an aircraft on offer with liveries by one developer, and deliver a version without liveries by another developer. I paid for the aircraft and for the liveries.

This topic should be closed.

Hi @Quigs5472,

I’m looking at the Cessna Longitude in the Marketplace, and these are the tags I see:

This plane is usable in Free Flight - did you check to see if you had the aircraft streamed/enabled?

Here is the plane selected in Free Flight mode:

Sorry but that’s not correct. I have flown the longitude in free flight.

That is not how it is presented in the Marketplace I am provided as an Xbox user. The Xbox Marketplace just has the limitation included in the narrative. I knew what I wanted and when the Marketplace was reopened I bought it without reading. Obviously I did not know that there are now limits as to where a purchased aircraft can be used.

But, I will add that to the going list of non-disclosure and a total lack of communication on behalf of MS/Asobo.

Would have been nice if they had said: “The Marketplace has reopened. However note that there are now limitations on where third party aircraft can be used. Be careful to read the product descrition where these limits are provided”.

When I look at the aircraft in my library it just says “stream”. I will check to see if there is something I need to do to enable it so that it will show in free flight mode.

Thanks!

It’s very well documented and known that not all aircraft will work in Career mode - but all aircraft will and do work in Free Flight. Any deviation from that which you experience is a local issue with your account or device.

I”m also using the Xbox Marketplace, and it is represented the same way as the screenshot above, with tags where the plane is usable. Seems it should be available for Free flight, based on these tags.

Hello @Quigs5472,

I just launched MSFS 2024 on my Xbox Series X console and confirmed the Citation Longitude shows as being compatible with Free Flight in the Marketplace description.

I was also able to personally start a Free Flight session in the Longitude on Xbox.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

I don’t think there’s a single aircraft that cannot be flown in Free Flight, is there?

I don’t believe so. Default for any plane would be free flight. The issue here would be the opposite, where someone may purchase a plane and it might not be Career-compatible.

See, this is the problem with the folks who keep spamming “2024 iS bRoKeN”. Now this guy’s plane probably just needs to be activated in My Library and he’s afraid of having been scammed

Not to pile on but yeah this is the opposite of the case, the Citation is only not available for career mode.

I bet this is going to be it… try looking under T for Textron(Cessna’s parent company) instead of under C. That’s where it’s listed.

Thanks. I have done everything available yet the Working Title Cesena Latitude does not appear in the list of aircraft available for free flight. Only the Asobo version is listed.

When I go into my library it shows as “stream”.

And you’ve used the search bar in aircraft selection to search for “Long” and found nothing?

At this point I would recommend deleting your streamed packages folder (which can be done on Xbox) which triggers the sim to redownload the local elements of all streamed assets like aircraft and airports.

Are you looking at the Working Title Longitude ?

The only Longitude that I can see is the Asobo version, not the Working Title I purchased in the Marketplace.

They’re the same version - one replaces the other, but the names are likely just displayed incorrectly.

The Asobo version is listed, not the Working Title version I purchased.

If they are the same, why would they offer it for separate sale in the Marketplace?

You saw both versions in the Marketplace? Also: what versions of 2020 and 2024 do you own?

I found the Asobo version of the Textron Cesena Longitude, but not the Working Title version I purchased.

There is no WT Longitude. There was a WT CJ4 improvement mod but now that they work together so closely that’s just the default one.

You’re… not making much sense. I’m guessing you don’t have premium deluxe and purchased the Longitude, in which case the Asobo and WT Longitude would be the same thing because WT makes a lot of the default avionics now. There was a WT mod for the CJ4, but that and the default one are one and the same now as well.
