Marketplace recommendations. (Xbox)

Hey, all!

HOTAS One is on it’s way and I’ve got some spare pennies in the bank.

Any recommendations from the Marketplace for Series X?

I definitely plan on getting Flightbeam’s KDEN Pack, as it’s my home airport, and possibly the HJet as I’m a sucker for “Luxury” aircraft. The Learjet 45 in FS '98 was my obsession.

I know to stay away from a certain…Captain and Broked is questionable from what I’ve seen.

But, any recommendations are welcome! Thank you fellow pilots!

If it’s available on Xbox, the Zinertek Enhanced Airport textures is very good - it isn’t expensive, and it improves the realism of pretty much every airport.

I do not have any of their products, but have seen mostly only bad reviews of the two developers you mentioned, so probably wise to steer clear.

There are some pretty luxury small aircraft in the sim already - the Citation, the TBM 930 and the Diamond DA62 are all very smart to fly or ride in, so why not try something completely different?
The Wings Boeing 247 and the Flying Iron Spitfire both look and sound amazing, and offer a very different (and rewarding!) flying experience compared to the more modern aircraft.

I believe i have the aiport textures pack wishlisted as well as the Spitfire and a couple of the official P-51’s. Since the latter are only $10 USD, I’ll probably pick those up in a couple weeks once another payday rolls around.

WASM is alated for release with SU10 and that hopefully means a lot more 3rd party mods will be making their way over.

But, my absolute number 1…helicopters. I’m praying there’s a slight chance 3rd party helis come alongside SU10, otherwise I’ll have to wait for November. :sob:

EDIT: And the Concorde. I’ll have to take out a bank loan for that one.

I can whole heartedly recommend anything by DC Designs, SC Designs and Indiafoxtecho.
As for scenery and airports they frequently have issues with xbox. I purchased Gatwick and couldn’t land or take off with out CTD.

I would be very interested to hear any feed back on the Nellis afb add on

It’s funny you mention this. I recently bought KDET on the Xbox marketplace and had constant CTDs. I suspected it was the airport being installed. I’ve uninstalled it and not a single CTD since. Lesson learned.

I’d definitely recommend the Blackbox Simulations Trislander - several different models and lots of liveries included - even the famous G -JOEY of Aurigny Air Services.
Very immersive study level aircraft, good flight model and lots of different locations for short hops all over the world - including the Channel Islands where Aurigny flew the Islander and Trislander aircraft for many years.
The Hjet is excellent on Xbox too, so that would be a good choice for a business jet for you.
Beech 18 is great for a vintage taildragger - takes a lot of practice to land it though, this is a very temperamental aircraft, just like in real life..
On Xbox series. X I’d avoid third party scenery if I were you, there are many threads in this forum about CTDs on Xbox, many are caused by third party scenery add-ons so be careful, perhaps if you see any you want, ask other Xbox users whether they’ve had issues with it. The devs are investigating Xbox stability problems so we hope the problems are fixed on or before SU10 release..

If you love bush flying Walkthrough of all the beatifully created Bush Flying Scenery made by Creative Mesh

If you love Alaska https://forums.flightsimulator.com/u/patrickb1973/activity

And i got more coming up, I focus on everything worth getting on Xbox and I test very long if it works and doesnt crash or i dont recommend it. So all products I review and redommend are tested under all kinds of conditions and if they dont crash my xbox series X then I post a video and photo’s and recommend it.

Just curious if you have had any issues with the Fall and Spring add ons as I am considering those as well. But also curious of which ones you are referring to as they have 2 variations one with a full screen photo or the split screen photo. Thank you for any assistance in this.

With Enhanced Airport Graphics I agree they look nice with 1 downside there will never be any snow on the runway etc. so that is a huge downside for me.

As for the seasons they do look nice but also cause issues at different locations, its a 50/50 for me It’s not really on my recommendation list

XBOX X

The Hondajet is very good indeed for the money though for me it is somewhat heavy on view panning performance ,so I generally keep panning to an absolute minimum on this aircraft and then it performs better .The autopilot is a bit different from my usual aircraft which keeps it interesting and seems to work ok,well worth the money.

For Aircraft I can highly recommend the Freedom Fox Full Pack by Parallel 42 for fun Bush Flying, you get different variants of the Fox 2 and the Freedom fox, they also come with some scenery and you can setup your tent which makes for fun Bush Adventures. Also The Kodiak is a great aircraft with visable Passengers and Cargo. As a Carenado Reviewer I can recommend the Carenado Aircraft too. All depends on your interest of aircraft and flights you want to do offcourse. As a retired pilot I’m into anything except Airliners, I like low and slow VFR flying, Use to do Cargo and Passenger runs in Alaska, Canada, USA and Australia before retiring because of health issues in my home country The Netherlands

My personal preferences, I’m like @patrickb1973 I don’t fly modern airlines or biz jets (although the HJet is great) and prefer slower VFR, bush, and historical aircraft.

Aircraft:

  • Carenado Beech 18. I love the classic smaller airliners, I wish the Boeing 247 would come to Xbox. Really looking forward to the DC3 and PMDG said the DC6 should be back when the wasm issue is solved in SU10.
  • Big Radials Grumman Goose (sounds are awesome)
  • FlyingIron P-38
  • SWS Kodiak
  • Parallel 42 Kitfox
  • Carenado Seneca

Regarding scenery, it’s been hit or miss. Some of them are excellent others conflict with the 3rd party aircraft and CTD. When I was first flying the HJet it would crash immediately anytime I remotely got near some of my third party airports. I do want to try the Enhanced Airport Graphics though and the Global Shipping ones.

There is 4 seasons DLC:

  • Fall N & Spring S (full screen photo) → Fall in North hemisphere and Spring in South hemisphere
  • Spring N & Fall S (full screen photo) → Spring in North hemisphere and Fall in South hemisphere
  • Summer N & Winter S (split screen photo) → Summer in North hemisphere and Winter in South hemisphere
  • Winter N & Summer S (split screen photo) → Winter in North hemisphere and Summer in South hemisphere

So, your choice is depending of which season you want (their isn’t a bundle with all seasons). Important: you MUST have only 1 install at a time, other MUST be uninstall. It’s not really pratical if you switch often.

Personally no big particular problems. Just cities in photogrammetry are not always managed (he must implement them specifically), especially the “recent” ones (Bijan having personal concerns at the moment, we haven’t had an update on the Marketplace since October if I don’t mistaken). Not that I don’t have any 3rd party airport, can’t say for DLC compatibility.

Indeed no snow on the asphalt.

Which issue for seasons ??? With other 3rd party DLC ? Except for some photogrammetry cities I didn’t encounter any problem on my side.

MSFS on Xbox really became fun for me with the following add-on planes:

Kodiak 100
Carenado Mooney Ovation
Beechcraft 18

Also any big jet livery that tickles your fancy is probably worth the six bucks for the added immersion alone.

EDIT: can’t believe I forgot the HJET. I gotta fly that more!

Thank you so very much for the explanation on the seasons as it ahs been something I’ve considered getting at some point. I would agree to have some more bundled options for add ons like seasons, birds, etc.

I understand that it might mean a higher price or not be convenient but a nice wish to havThank you so very much again for the added information.

Best Xbox planes?

Goose
Kodiak
HJet

Those three will give you some variety, and pretty much cover the entire flight envelope.
