Meigs Field, Chicago, USA Missing After 1.14.6.0

After the latest Asobo fps patch (1.14.6.0), Meigs Field (3rd party) again is missing.

Again I wrote to the author, Guillermo Zulueta, about this problem and his suggested work-around follows. Yes, this does work. Rather than bugging him each time there is an update or patch I am going to change the first letter/s of the unzipped folder name. No reason it should not work for future Asobo changes:

He said, “No bother at all. A pleasure to help. Try renaming again the folder name starting with something like “aa” or similar. I suspect the game has cache issues reloading installed addons after a patch has been installed and need to force a cache reload. Changing the name makes the game think it’s a new addon and generates a new cache. I’ve tried several times to fix this but with no luck yet.”

Regarding the latest disappearance, just open the Community folder and find the folder “xx_guillermozulueta_meigs”. Change the folder name by changing the first letter or first two letters to something other than what you see there, and then save the new folder name. Today I changed “z”_ to “aa”_ and this worked. Long live Meigs. PS- Guillermo has developed this particular freeware version into a payware version called Professional Version. It is way more highly detailed and includes amazing detail of the insides of the buildings. I think I shall purchase although right now I have not a clue as to how to get inside the buildings… external camera I think. Still learning.

Just a few thoughts… Meigs was closed decades ago now.
I can understand that you regret it ( It was the default airfield in MSFS in the early days) but we now have a choice of 35-40.000 airfields worldwide…
Perhaps it’s time to move on?

Isn’t there a known issue where mods are not loaded properly after you have just installed an update, and that a shutdown then re-launch of the sim is needed? I’m sure I read that here.

Naw. I fly all over the world anyway. Just love the restored field with Chicago skyline in the background. Just a beautiful hand-crafted airport, both inside and out. When I want a short, familiar flight to test different aircraft, mods, etc. I go to Meigs because I am familiar with how the area graphics are rendered when things are working properly. This is where I test mods such as paints, weather, ATC, new aircraft. I can tell in a second how each mod affects my system performance, and visa versa. It is nice to go home once in a while.

One thing to try is putting that scenery at the very top of your Content.xml file. That’s solved odd scenery issues for me.

Edit to add where to find the file: [SOLUTION] Navigraph and double runways

I have placed a bug fix request in the dd support forum.
By the way one silly workaround helps: Copying (not moving) the Meigs-scenery from the official to the community folder and renaming the community version by adding the prefix “zz-”
