what gpu do you have?
Same issue for me. I just started using VD because it was recommended but when it started SteamVR and changed my default away from Oculus, I wasnāt pleased and the FPS in FS were terrible. Iāve been using the Link cable with hardly any better results. Lots of tearing esp. in my right eye. Tried to bring in the outside window using the Oculus app for Skyvector but that made the tearing much worse. Completely unusable. Had to close it. Also, the default headstrap is really uncomfortable. Hurts my forehead and ears. Donāt think Iāll be able to use it for MSFS until third party straps start popping up even if I can sort out the graphical issues.
Is the VD just for people who got MSFS through steam? Mine came from windows store. I have open XR on my machine already.
The optimal stack for Meta (Oculus) sets and MSFS is VD (over WiFi 6) with the not-yet-released VDXR by mbucchia. There is no SteamVR used at all in that scenario.
FYI, I did try the OpenXR toolkit today and really did not like the shimmering and sharpening effects it had on everything.
Also of note, I was getting 45FPS with TAA at 100, and would notice blurring when turning the aircraft and looking at the ground. I found that by setting it to as low as 65 with the snapdragon upscaling I was able to get to 80FPS a which was super smooth with minimal effects on the ground where I was looking. I will try a few more combinations before I finalize my setup.
4090/13900K/Q3/VD.
yes I saw that option but the option is 20/40/80 mzh together, not individually.
I have a RTX 4090, an 5800X3D and 32GB RAM
Problem with blurry/low resolution edges is solved. I must have messed up settings in Sidequest beforeā¦
ok thanks
does anyone know if there is a short cut key for the VD performance display when it shows in Vr, it is a big display and takes alot of room.
the display shows the latency etc
Play with your roomscale if you are using some peripheral. Funny, going sidewards to see them via the camera in AR.
Yeah cable is unsurprisingly going to be the best, Iām surprised people are recommending wireless methods over it here. I mean sure if they really care about not having a cable, I understand. But in terms of stability and quality, cabled should be your first choice.
How do you start the game via cable?
It wants to start QuestLink, but I cannot start MSFS in there and if I start MSFS first I cannot enter VR-Mode. VDXR obviously only works with Virtualk Desktop so what Runtime is it using when using the cable? SteamVR? SteamVR is performing awful on my PCā¦
Thank you!

What if I use Oculus Link?
You are covered too! VirtualDesktopXR detects whether the Virtual Desktop Streamer is running and connected and if it is not, VirtualDesktopXR will attempt to use Oculus Link instead!

Does this VDXR replace Oculus App (with Oculus Debug Tool) for Windows (option with wired connection via Oculus Link)?
It may be dependent on system specifics. For my system, cable link performance is terrible but VD/VDXR runs very well.
If you are not exceeding 72Hz in MSFS, try setting the Q3 to 72Hz as it will reduce battery drain. Unlike the G2 that would do weird flickering at 60Hz, I cannot tell any visual difference between 72/80/90 in the Q3.
what is VDXR ?
Okay, then it is not working for me as MSFS says there is no VR-Module installedā¦but well: It is working fine with Virtual Desktop.
VirtualDesktopXR tool by mbucchia.
Def going to try this with the new version of VD!
