It’s related to the Meteoblue low resolution maps for snow coverage that are being used in Live Weather. It’s basically snow covered peaks that bleed into the valleys as giant blobs, because the data is not high resolution enough.

It’s an issue that needs fixing for years now, because it essentially ruins live weather for mountain flying all summer long. Even in winter it goes way overboard in most places.

Live Weather Does Not Match

Snowy in Milford Sound (New Zealand) today, apparently. Even the fjord is frozen solid. [snow in NZMF] Seems entirely unlikely as it’s the summer there right now, but I went to check on Meteoblue just to be sure: overcast and temps between 13-18 °C predicted today.

So there should not be snow in this area !
