Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 1.2.7.0 Patch #3 Discussion

I have to say that this update has some fixes obviously but I’m still struggling with the multiple monitor setup. I have 3 monitors I’m trying to stitch together which is really hard to line up now with the main/primary being overlayed with the menu. That and after the update my left monitor now looks like it’s squashed down or something yet the resolution is still set for the same 4k. That and I get constant flickering and tiles now missing for scenery on the same left side monitor.
Now for the sim, well it was great until I got stuck with one of the missions not progressing to the next section. It was the “fly around the tornado” mission in which I flew to the area but no tornado or segment lit up to what to do next. (Until I hit Alt-N). Then during the flight the characters kept repeating the same comments.
I also had a mission I flew and it never detected I had landed, parked and shut the engine down. So I had to abort and lose progress.

Still work to do there Asobo

I too had big stutters when taking off and landing after this patch… I increased my rolling cache size to 128GB and I think it has helped quite a bit. Might be worth a try if you haven’t already

Good update. All systems a GO!

No, it’s because Fenix doesn’t have to deal with MSFS 2024 coding… they use ProSim, an external tool to run their plane. PMDG codes in MSFS 2024 and they have to wait on Asobo to fix the bugs in the sim.

I guess this patch was released with good intentions, however the results have fallen flat. Load times are significantly slower and game performance is less smooth.

In deference to the disastrous release and the step backwards incurred with this patch, please can some sort of testing be undertaken on future patches ?

On the added trim, for the Airbus H125 helicopter, as well as the ‘Quick Trim’ command binding, you can apparently also trim using the ‘Decrease Rotor Longitudinal Trim’ and ‘Increase Rotor Longitudinal Trim’ commands.

I’ve bound both, so will see which one I prefer.

Oops yes it’s sayintentions.ai!

I agree entirely, and I do think it’s a conservative estimate. I recommend anyone considering FS2024 should wait 6 months and then try it out on game pass. If it’s still bad in 6 months, then cancel your game pass. Simply not worth paying for it in its current state as you can see patch 3 made things worse for many.

Just a heads up I setup 300gb cache - took an hour well its back to 16gb again all by itself - I would assume new patch hosed that - fps are terrible just sitting at KDEN with INI A321 no photogrammetry on to see if it would be better without - keep going around in circles chasing settings - waste of time

Panning around the tarmac a map tile from the main world menu where you pick your airport to fly from - weirdest stuff going on

If you set a new cache you might want to check it - bet its back to 16gb so much wasted time - only thing I think 2024 has over 2020 is the night lighting I cant stand the night lighting in 2020

I have a great pc and OLED monitor and Internet connection - its a shame where this is at and I don’t see it getting playable for a long time

I like to tinker but this is a dead end currently unfortunately

I noticed that it was back to 16 GB and I increased it back up to what I had it at before, but it did not help. I still get those crazy hard stutters until I restart the game a few times. This is insane. These people have no clue what they are doing and it blows me away.

Why not both?

What do you think we are doing?

Why would anyone need more than 16 GB? I haven’t run into any prob with the default yet. Seems like a waste of disk space.

In 2020 16 GB was more or less enough just for 2 airports. In 2024 you stream more than just some scenery. If your connection is good 16 Gb may be OK for you. However, I afraid, with 16 GB it always will re-wright on SSD/HDD non-stop and I am not sure this is good.

I think that is optimistic. New stuff is being broken everyday.

It’s kinda running behind the facts, or bugs in this case. And the only way to have a stable base to start making it offline available like 2020, and start patching and updating from there on as it decreases server load and bandwidth.

Users can enjoy the flight and frustration will be way less, every day I read people leaving 2024 to 2020 and xplane. It’s not worth it like that.

When 2020 switches offline for whatever reason, I’m okay it looked better before but at least I can carry on with my flight, and often it reconnects.

I was getting all the stuttering and bad performance, until I reduced my render scaling to 60. I don’t notice a very significant visual downgrade to be honest, but that’s just me probably. At least the bloody thing is flyable now with the Fenix airbus at large hubs and BATC with traffic! Yey!

sharing my interesting findings from today. up early so decided to try loading up the sim. again, xbox x user here. my finding are:

  • initial load time still quite slow, around 5 mins vs 2min last week.

  • I never turned photogrammetry off before, so I gave it a try. doing so obviously did eliminate the hard border of photogram & generic at the western edge of kord; which was good. Tho flying over Chicago was too generic for me, so I turned it back ON.

  • even with photogrammetry off, textures in cockpit and ground, were still loading slow & blurry, as well as in the distance LOD remained poor.

  • despite rolling cache at 64GB, still blurry too

  • tho regarding imagery, photogrammetry definitely overlays aerials. with it OFF, I flew around st Louis Lambert, an area I know in real life and raised out of date concerns in some areas, and with it OFF, the construction areas do show complete, parking lots, stores etc. as in real life. but with photogrammetry ON, it overlays it with a bulldozed area. idk what it is in FS2020, didn’t compare, and I know msfs support told me new bing aerials, TIN and photogrametry for 2024 did get delayed. so im hoping when all available, photogrammetry is updated to match what I see with it OFF.

  • it was just interesting to see that difference as a data point, cosmetically. tho functionally, for me and many here, the blurry did not get resolved in patch 3. hoping everyone filed bugs so its fixed soon

Lower the LOD and the Texture resolution that’s are biggest resources eaters
