Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 General Feedback

Probably because the Americas are still sleeping and Europe is either already at work or sleeping as well. Tonight, access to the game will again be problematic.

Finally allowed in after 12 Hrs (started downloading at 3am). Selected the C172 to have the best chance of success. Was disappointed at all the bugs getting it to work. The amphibious version refused to even fire up. I’ll be staying with 2020 for some time yet.

Flight assistant panel from toolbar, as well as travel skip panel from toolbar, are both missing in MSFS2024… flight assistant with AI pilot should definitely be there since it’s even referred to in keybinds, but even the keybind doesnt make it appear… really hope these get added back in

I feared this might happen but somehow half expected it.
Very well put

I stayed out and spent my money on the Just Flight RJ Professional which works brilliantly on the Xbox Series X in MSFS2020.

I’m going to stay away from MSFS2024 for the foreseeable. What I’ve got now is acceptable and I value my collection of third party aircraft to the point where I will only switch when the simulator is at a good enough standard to support them all.

4070ti and 7600x on 4k

do anyone with similar rig did manage to not get completely fps hammered with airliners at major hubs?

the stutters are beyond beliefs and it felt like msfs2020 when vram was full, though i was able to completely get rid of that by switching to dx11

am I out of luck here?

Wow. First career mission after obtaining PPL, you are to take passengers, without completing night landings, without proper requirements, for a tour for profit.

Does anyone at MS/Asobo have a copy of the FAR/AIM? Let me educate you on some of the most basic regulations that new pilots must understand. This is a bad look for aviation to blatantly disregard the most basic of rules. I understand you can’t be expected to gain hours or spend multiple evenings making landings at night. But don’t tell us this hasn’t been ā€œGameified.ā€ I know I’m being a stickler and this can’t be 100% real life ops, but jeez is this an oversimplification!

Going by live stream, one of the issues has been bugs in 3rd party addons preventing activation.

Why then was the decision made to try and activate everything at start instead of just known working packages from Asobo and 1st party developers?

If this was done Pilots could then activate their addon content as needed once they are fully in the sim.

I have a fair amount of content from the old sim, some of which I never use so with this approach I’ll likely need to go and disable.unjnstall all that after waiting hours to also get into the sim.

Definitely sounds like Asobo prioritised ease of use over good software design (install only what’s needed) and ignored common sense that may have helped with avoiding some of the server overload.

i dont think my ISP is ready for 2024

after yesterdays bad launch the sim show 6h playtime,i was even not in the menu!!! so play time is 0 !!!
start this morning, at moment,it hang at 98% for over 90min now

.
no addons,pc, store,germany.
so this is a joke,i think about a Refund…

I couldnt get in last night, forever stuck at 12% so waited till this morning. Although still very slow to load i managed to get to the free flight page after 20 minutes ( blisteringly fast compared to last night) . Clicked fly and it crashed to desktop. Restarted and back to reloading again after 15 minutes at 5% i gave up and have put in for a refund. I bought the Premium deluxe edition but have a months game points sitting which i will use instead. No way i’m paying for this.

Just some short feedback from Xbox X this morning. I loaded quite fast into the sim and also could access all menues.
But, still do not manage to load into any flight, tried several locations, with and w/o live weather. Just remained forever on the bird view loading screen, while watching the clouds move by.

Edit: Have only two Carenado and the ATR transferred from FS2020.

All works well here. Incredibly smooth experience and especially the lighting is really Gorgeous.

Anyone know how long It takes sat on the customize identity screen?

Uh… I didn’t get any profit. What you going on about lol

Edit: If you’ll notice, you got EXPERIENCE but no money. You started with 5000 credits, you paid 2000 for the PPL, and after taking the friends up, you’ll still have 3000. It actually specifically said something about being unable to make money with just a PPL

Seems that Asobo sold a product for us to test. This should be a game for us to have fun. After the impossibility of using my purchase yesterday, I am trying today and I quit because I wait 3 x more than 30 minutes and I cannot start a 15 minutes free flight. This is not a pleasant experience. Worst is that I am in Germany with 400 fiber connection and not in the middle of Africa. The option to download what we bought should be available since the cloud servers from Microsoft suck and were not submited to a load test before the selling day. This happens when you mix a power and greedy team with a company that just want to sell Xbox’s.

And we all thought that MSFS 2020 was the test…

sadly being able to get it in made things worse, seems a hard task considering the launch net issues but still…

  • performance:

terrible, frame gen issues, vram issues, overall bad performance from light to heavy planes while setting graphics to a low standard > the comparison with 2020 is saddening (i was getting better with better fps)

feels like i am force to keep settings to low and even use dlss (which looks horrible with pfds as it was in 2020) just to be able to play without vram, FG, fps issues

  • graphics:

i do like a lot lights and ambience (apart from some strange airports lights that floats or are way to blurry), overall feels like not a massive improvement but an improvement nonetheless

what i do not like is a sort of a gamey feeling overall (plasticky materials, cinematic lights/atmos, saturation)

problem is i cannot achieve the same quality, fidelity i was getting in 2020 because of performances issues

I managed to get into the sim (3 restarts and I made it past the ā€œIdentityā€ screen). But it is seriously underwhelming. The city I live in has dissapeard, no 3D buildings, nothing. Terrible ground textures which show flat aerial photographs of the actual buildings. Not even at the start of 2020 it looked so bad. I am really wondering, what they used for advertising and marketing. It cannot have been the same version we are getting.

Look at that brown mess. Terrible.

Welcome to Berlin!

Could be but no. They tried to sell us that they made a new software core but seems that is not done at all. Worst is that Asobo and their bought influencers sold us the slogan … wonderfull flying experience.
My only experience is looking to screen full of graphics that pretend to be clouds. After more that 1 hour waiting, my free flight is not starting at all … Third try this morning.
