Does it not have an autopilot?
It does have AP, but not Auto Throttle. I crashed it a few times because the speed needle reached the red zone when I was away from my desk.
It does yes but for me one of the main things is maintaining a constant speed. If it goes over a certain speed (around 300 kts can’t remember exactly), for example, it’s game over. Also I am not sure I would have total faith in the AP to keep everything constant either for an hour or so. Not faulting the product here btw. If I was piloting it in RL (thankfully never going to happen
) I wouldn’t be taking a long nap either.
To me it is a very hands on AC and for this reason I find it quite immersive ![]()
A couple of good ones: FSS AG’s E-Jet packs (170/175 and 190/195) and Tecnam P2012 have just gone on sale for the first time, at Contrail. 25% off, so quite a discount! Bit annoying as I paid full price during the last sale, thinking they’d never be discounted!
Aerosoft’s CRJs also 25% off. Very sneaky as none are showing in the main ‘sale’ section!
Finally, Drzewiecki has (another) sale on at various stores.
I will happily pay a full price once they leave early access.
I personally like it. You can see the potential there and I’m sure they’re committed to making it better each and every month. The latest update, in fact, is scheduled for today.
The one thing they appear to have right is the handling — it feels like a more nimble Fenix, which is exactly what I’d expect.
Incidentally, the E-Jets have been removed from sale today. Not sure if it was an error or just a very brief sale. Their P2012 and the Aerosoft CRJ are still discounted. Just took advantage of the latter…
Always wait for a sale! It’s like bargaining. They’ll always come lower eventually. Unless of course you have some great need to have it “right now!” In which case, you pay extra for that “feature” lol ![]()
15 yrs of using Steam has thought me that the “real” price is 50% off. Anything else is an “I want it right now” fee.
Where? Or do you mean the 2006?
Ohhh, Contrail. Still didn’t set myself an account up there!
I had to to get the CH47D contrail was sole distributer before it was available on marketplace.
You’re in the UK, like me? Don’t get caught out by Contrail — when you pop something in your cart, it adds tax all the way through, till the penultimate screen… at which point, it removes the tax for UK buyers! Luckily I found out quite quickly after my jump to PC, but not before I’d thrown away £5.25 in savings because there was no way of knowing it’d ultimately subtract that tax!
It’s horses for courses — we get stung by Orbx, whereas Oz buyers get their products with less tax. I used to wonder how some stores were still in business, being consistently more expensive than the competition; but now I realise why…
I’m still puzzled as to why the E-Jets were only on sale for literally a few hours.
Eh? I would have thought you’re more likely to be taxed if buying local.
I’ve no clue how it works but it must depend on where the buyer is, and where the site’s registered. UK buyers pay no tax at Contrail, but buyers from Germany (where Contrail’s based) do. Likewise, IniBuilds van be expensive once VAT is added but I know foreign buyers don’t pay it. At Orbx, we get charged the 20% VAT but Australian buyers pay their native tax rate, which is nowhere near 30%.
I most certainly pay VAT at Inibuilds, it adds about 50% more to their price in pounds. I’m in Europe…
Ah ok, I thought you were implying that Contrails were UK based, as Orbx is Aussie based. But yeah, that makes sense. It depends on the country, but often if buying overseas you won’t pay that shops local VAT/GST. Some countries (like mine) require overseas sellers to collect tax and then pay it on at end of year to said country, but I think it depends on the size of the seller.
As I said, I don’t know how it works for every store in every country (nor should I be expected to), but some people don’t pay tax where others do.
I am in UK and price on Contrail store remains the same from the store page, to the basket and finally the checkout.
That’s why I like buying there. No hidden costs like on inibuilds store and does not look like a webstore from 20 years ago like simmarket :).
Got an email today telling me Miltech CH47D is on a 15% sale …. + 5 custom sceneries and a handful of missions. From 1st May apparently.
I’ll head over and buy it later.
…(I imagine the sale is going to irritate a few).
Well it doesn’t get cheaper than Free. KMKE from Ini is a free release today on their website, and the screen shots look superb.
