Looks like the sim is doing great, so congratulations devs for this massive achievement.
Two million players in a few short months is absolutely groundbreaking for a flight simulator and this will create a thriving market for a lot of people to create airports, aircraft, and more, bringing this sim up to even greater heights.
It’s such a pleasure to see the flight simulation scene alive and well again after over a decade of obscurity.
Upward and onward now!
Edit: Since some don’t seem to be able to read the room, please refrain from coming here to attack the sim or spam why these numbers should be considered invalid. It’s an achievement worth celebrating. If you want to enjoy the usual negativity, there are plenty of threads dedicated to just that in this very forum. Feel free to use those to your heart’s content.
Big congratz to Asobo and Microsoft, its been an awesome ride since December 2019.
with all the ups and downs the ONLY true next gen experience is at MSFS and im so happy to see MSFS will arrive only to Next Gen consoles, which will keep the high visual fidelity.
Keep doing amazing things to the sim, Waiting for the upcoming sim update!
Commentary from an online blog dedicated to Windows and Microsoft software - rehashes a bit of the Xbox Wire article but adds some additional commentary.
To be honest, this sim is truly a work in progress and needs a LOT of work. The only compelling reason I keep coming back to it is that even with all the bugs, the real-world bing data and photogrametry mapping really makes it that much more immersive than any other sim out there. As an avid simmer, I’d like to see the major bugs (especially in the airplanes) to be squashed very soon.
Those 2 million pilots have flown a total of more than 3,500,000,000 miles (19 round trips from Earth to the sun) across 50,000,000 flights. The most popular aircraft is the Airbus A320 NEO, with New York, Los Angeles and Heathrow taking the cake for most popular airports. Despite such huge user numbers, only 7000 have visited the Asobo offices and a small number of you (4300) have visited Microsoft in Seattle. Eyes have also been glued to Twitch as over 9.7 million hours have been viewed on the platform since the product was made available. Finally, it’s been confirmed that over 500 products are already available for the simulator as add-ons from a variety of third-party developers.
For all of MSFS limitations bearing in mind that it’s still a newly released sim, I recently retried both P3D 5.1 and Xplane 11.50 and I was actually disappointed with them, I rather quickly gave up and returned to the beauty that is MSFS, deep in the knowledge that this sim is only going to get better.
