Microsoft Sidewinder FFB 2 Joystick App

Thank you for all the help and feedback.

Am very happy with this update. All the polarity issues are FINALLY done, and the new Flight Check page adds a touch of whimsy while being very useful

Let me know how you guys like this.

Very nice work. I tried it with my MOZA AB9. I only fly gliders in MSFS 2024.

What i liked:

  • nice UI
  • It has working buffets for flaps-, spoilers- and gear drag (none of them work with gliders in the moza software)
  • Has a working effect for when gear is lowered (not working in Moza cockpit with gliders either)
  • Has a different kind of turbulence effect when doing abrupt stick movements

What i didnt like so much:

  • I couldnt get a natural feeling g-force effect working. Interestingly enough Moza also seems to struggle with that one in their newer software versions (works better in older versions for me)
  • Couldn’t find a turbulence setting based on ambient wind changes
  • Spoiler drag effect is limited to 150 kt max.
  • Not a lot of options to customize ffb effects (eg. change vibration frequency for certain effects, or adjusting operating range by speed etc)

I think this app has huge potential, not just for old hardware and different operating systems, but even to replace the Moza software for FFB enthusiasts.

I will follow future developments closely. Keep it up!

PS

The forum thread title really doesnt do this app justice, now that it’s working with the Moza base.

Thanks for the great feedback. I’ll email you - I have zero experience with gliders in the sim (none with helicopters either), so I couldn’t really make any changes myself - no clue what it should feel like.

If you’re willing to test things out, we can absolutely add these features (and more) to the program (assuming it’s technically possible, of course).

Also, there’s a bug in the AB9 with spring centering (it doesn’t work). I’ve fixed it in the latest version 1.2.1 which I just made available (you should have an email hit your inbox shortly)

Try that tell me if it makes any difference. And thanks again.

Wanted to touch on something here, are the forces on a loop? It seemed that way during the flight check and while flying. If that’s so, can you make it more varied and random?

No, no loop. The flight check test is of course scripted and on a loop, but when you’re using a sim it is generating the effects in real time based on sim data.

So if the sim is sending data that’s looping (like the bumps on a runway or whatever), it will feel like that. But FFB-Bridge itself is not doing any looping or editing of the data - it takes the telemetry, converts to forces, and send that to the stick.
