Mid-distant Scenery non-existent

PC user - 78003XD - 4090 - Quest 3. / TLOD 255 / LOD 200

PLEASE PAUSE CLIP, AND ENLARGE TO WITNES THIS EVIL.

I am not giving up on this. I want my sim back.

This is London. Or should be.

Where is London?

More of London.

I am tired of moaning on here, but I am desperately trying to get my simming back to what is was like 7 weeks ago.

This one really baffles me, as i search for a fix.

Any city at night, my TLOD is back to normal, lights go waaaay into the distance. But as soon as i alter the time of day “on the fly” it reverts back to what looks like a meagre 50 TLOD. At night, its holds my preset of 255 TLOD.

Any ideas?

Do you have all your options in Data set to ON ?

Also if you are using the rolling cache (down below the Data config setup), disable or empty it.

Definitely no reason to have all those options set to ON. Only the top 3 options have anything to do with this.

Absolutely right, thanks for the correction  !

Yes cheers, all lower 3 are off. Of course. Ive completed all the basic baby steps weeks ago. Been through zendesk weeks ago, so all the boring little silly checks have been made.

Baffled.

Ive done all the baby steps. All the usual checks (cache/data limits etc) have been done. No difference with any of it.

Where i go from here i just dont know. I am praying someone may have the extra bit of "know-how " and able to assist.

Thanks.

Check if your UserCfg file is not set on Read-only. Here is the path to that file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator

Also check that post:

This sounds promising. However, there in no “userCfg” in that file location.

Thats weird. Any ideas?

Try the path provided here:

Yes found it. Both attributes (read only and hidden) are unchecked/unticked.

When i go its permissions in the same properties tab, all boxes are ticked “allowed”.

Thats an anti-climax lol.

Ok good. Next step I’ll follow is to have a look at below article and perform some checks/setup they are recommending. I do so after each SU and I get good results with my system (Ryzen 5 3600/RTX 2060 super). Maybe something could work for you.

Followed that lot, thanks, but no joy.

I really think this game is stuffed. Ive now even done a clean windows install via the insider program, and its still stuffed.

Im wondering whether this is a game bug, that is showing up on only a minority of users.

I just dont know anymore, looks like ill have to shelve this sim, which is gutting.

Do you have the World Updates owned and installed in your marketplace ?:

Yes everything, except nordics and Australia.

The issue gets worst in VR too. Yesterday, whilst flying, a thin corridor opened up, where new delicious looking tiles popped in front of me (in a thin line). To the sides and back, the tiles look as if they are offline.

Have you checked the quality of your internet connection ?
Regardless of what you have contracted with your ISP.
Measure what actually reaches your PC.

Could you try the recommendations in this article:

If it helps you to diagnose, i fly with tlod on 200.
If i reproduce your shot, i see the exact same thing as you… i guess i never zoomed the camera that much so i didn’t notice.
But!.. if i slide the tlod to 400… the distant PG quality picks up as expected, even in active pause. My system cant handle it though… so i have to revert to 200.
Im on pc, standard game, no beta, little (if any) 3d party addons.
Also i have recently figured out that the cap on the different LOD rings is data volume related. So if you have “something” in your scenery that takes up too much data, your lod will cap lower.
