Milviz 737-200 update

Not sure if this has been already mentioned, couldn’t see any recent posts in this section…

This is incredibly exiting development, the original bird (300-500s are deemed as classics…) the very thing that basically started it all…
The 737-200 willI definitely be a day one purchase for my hanger.

Milviz will do an incredible job I’m sure, glad there is one they can get some good sounds for…
Nothing looks better than those jet engines.

Hope you also do a hush-kit and a QC version and I guess a 100 should be an option as well just because its basically the same thing but stumpier

Please include some New Zealand liveries… NAC (precursor to Air NZ domestic) was one of the launch customers for the 200 and was a true workhorse in New Zealands skies for 40 odd years!!

Since they’ve commenced audio recording, I’m hoping that we can get the first truly high-quality and loud external JT8D sounds in MFS.

… unlike the ones that were recorded for Leonardo’s MD-80, which are awful.

Not as sexy as this:

Nolinor 732 with upgraded avionics. Be still my heart

Nolinor_aviation shared a post on Instagram: "We

We’re not sure we’re doing that…

Hopefully no glass screens, If you do put as many Analogue gauges in as you can please :+1:

Oh my! Yes, please

Whatever you guys do… please don’t do that… Those who want their magenta fix have enough glass cockpits to fill their boots… Even the beloved VOR classic… The BAe 146 will be getting the magenta ‘RJ’ overhaul…

The 737-200 was, is and will ever be steam gague cockpit (except for the very few modded glass cockpits…)

If anything…

Hope you guys can offer a few varients or configurations, even if its purely cosmetic such as hush-kits, QC, cargo, gravel kits and the like…
Also…

A series 100 wouldn’t go amidst as you are basically 90% there regarding basics such cockpit, and sound recordings…

Even if it does come with a extra cost…

It’s not like the existence of the AvroRJ will in any way worsen your experience flying the BAe146, or the classic 737-200 would be less enjoyable if a glass cockpit retrofit also existed.

Spoils the character of the cockpit for me adding in glass screens to an old retro aircraft.

Does it also spoil the experience for you if there are no displays in the cockpit, but there is another cockpit with displays (which nobody is forcing you to use)?

Because if it does, that’s honestly your problem.

Hey mate, my comment above had a slight toungue in cheek tone but also…
I’m all for the AvroRJ and I am genuinely excited for those who relate to that aircraft and are looking forward to it.
I absolutely love the BAe146 for many reasons along with the 737-200 with nostalgia being the main reason as it flew to my home town. I love JF products but I wont be buying the AvroRJ for a couple of reasons…

  1. being same aircraft but with a modern and complex a glass/computerized cockpit and all the modern amenities that come with it that the 146 doesn’t have
  2. There is no nostalgia or connection with that type of aircraft and I have finite storage.

I once was one who only flew with the magenta but after the intense learning curve and with flying with needles… It is such a fun, highly addictive and intuitive way to fly and that’s why these planes are being built by these creators, to fill that void and offer that challenge back to flying for those who want to fly with VORs etc and also catering for that older community who only knew one way to fly…

God forbid… When the last VOR/NDB is finally decommissioned, then… Then I will be asking Milviz to look to build a glass-cockpit and I will be looking at the AvroRJ but until then…

If the Milviz 737-200 was ready tomorrow vs the programmers having spend another six months to code a complex glass cockpit that would possibly include RNAV/VNAV as what I could imagine that glass cockpit would have for something that was never exclusively built while the 737-200 was on the production line, like the 146/Avro was… I would much rather have the 737-200 now.

And I’m fine if you won’t buy the Avro RJ. The 737-200 isn’t my style of plane but when it’s out and if the reviews are good, I’ll probably get it anyway for variety’s sake.

Your original post just came across to me as being somewhat envious and dismissive of other people’s preferences. I’m in a similar boat as @clbarnes85, seeing a weird and apparently rare retrofit at this weird intersection between the analog and digital world just interests me in a way that an entirely analog plane from before my time doesn’t. That doesn’t mean I begrudge you your enjoyment in any way, but your post read as begrudging others for having too many planes to choose from, and it came off as kind of hostile especially considering we’re not even talking about an actual product, but rather about an idea one person suggested and a dev then immediately shot down.

Apologies for any offence done.

The developers at Milviz are a little old school like me (I’m only 34…) and they simply tell it as it is and in this regard…
They only basically said no… and my follow up original post was nothing more than what it was… Just a lighthearted…
“Please don’t use up any valuable time to develop something, something that would end up being quite complex and something that was never part of the 737-200 in any sense except for the very few today that have been modified and a… Jus get this baby out ASAP for those to enjoy!!!”

JF are doing the RJ, so you will get that fix of something old mixed in with the new… An aircraft with the EFIS that actually came off the production line…
PMDG did the DC-6 and apart from the gps nav unit, they didn’t add anything else modern, to their aircraft
Milviz 737-200, they are doing just the original cockpit and that’s it and they have just simply implied that they won’t be adding a glass cockpit to any extent as the photo ‘clbarnes85’ posted anytime soon…
They are essentially creating a top quality aircraft that is primarily aimed at a defined hobbyist market. A market for those who have an attachment to this aircraft, or interest in that era of aviation and others as mentioned in my previous post, so I wont repeat myself.

These aircraft, along with the BAe 146 and the PMDG DC-6 are best enjoyed as how they originally came out, an aircraft for, when you have ample of spare time to chill and all the time in the world to be dedicated and to fly VOR to VOR and to use the manual throttle and not just push a button and head out to do the groceries or go hang out with mates… (“guilty” myself…)

Also…
For something that almost looks like a 737-800 inside the cockpit in most aspects apart from the glass cockpit… By putting a glass cockpit in a 737-200, your basically turns it into a mini PDMG 737-800 with ultra retro jet engines or any modern airliner for that matter… Be it A320, 787, 747…

It’s not that I wont buy the Avro RJ as mentioned in my last post. I am really excited for the Avro and if it’s anything like the 146, it will be awesome and will fill the void for those who like a classic and or have a connection with the RJ (European operators etc.) and those who like the modern EFIS cockpit and want to follow their progress… I would buy it should VORs become non-existent as it would be near impossible to fly the 146 although the default 146 fms would be doable… I also already have a huge (700GB) amount of addons and aircraft, everything the RJ is… I already have that in the 146…

I grew up with cassette tapes and vinyl say no more… skills like winding tapes back with a biro pen when your walkmans gone flat are a dying art so bring on the old school planes like the milviz 737-200

Plenty of time to sit and watch planes fly themselves while your getting your tea in years to come :+1: “drone simulator 2030”

Apropos of nothing, I hope that, however they decide to build it, they have a pure steam gauge version as one of the options.

I flew the -200 back at the turn of the century (God, I’m old!) and it was a masterpiece of mechanical gauges and VOR/NDB navigation.

Also, as there are not, to my knowledge, all that many classic steam gauge airliners currently available (of the Boeing, Douglas, DeHavilland variety), I think a classic 737-200 would sell like hotcakes.

JMHO. :slightly_smiling_face:

:rofl::rofl::rofl: or the dreaded… pulling your favorite Disney VCR out of the tape player and the dreaded heartbreaking sight of tape, wrapped in amongst the mechanisms coming out of the end as you pull out the VCR and painstakingly unscrewing the VCR player ‘while its still plugged in the wall’ (cant just turn it off as you will have to go to av and retune the VCR back into the TV again…) full risk of full electrical shock as you carefully pull out the tape and trying not to crest it too much… then having too… like you said… with a one of those massive vivid pens… wind up the tape… Oh and of course… remeber walking along the roads, finding a bird nest of tape…

Mate full analog steam gauge 737-200 is the only way forward :raised_hands:
It’s an aircraft, like a aged single malt, or a 20 year old merlot on a wet rainy Friday night…
It’s built to be enjoyed and flown with time on your hands, put on a nice Pink Floyd vinyl and keep a focus on those VOR and NDB needles while those radios are still existing…

You still have the fenix, A32nx, the new Avro, PMDG, even Milivz C310 magenta liners to keep you entertained if you have a short attention span or kids or commitments to attend but still want to simply autopilot and fly…(Big hands :raised_hand: up here as I am GUILTY too…)

AHH the old tape birds nests hanging off a shopping trolley somewhere… and the sound of planes like the old 737s and 727s (another analogue liner I’d like on hear please milviz) flying overhead to my local airport :love_you_gesture:

I love very well the 727, but I like also the 737-200: I virtually flew both planes
