How does the touchdown feel for you in the sim compared to your RL flights?
roughly the same… was always difficult to get a really smooth landing. Had to keep a bit of power on when landing. Same in sim. If you cut the power you get a hard landing. If you leave a little bit of power on it lands better.
As much as I love this plane, I’m having performance trouble that doesn’t seem to track with what others are experiencing. I’m struggling to get up to 18000 feet, limping up there at 300 fpm near the end and only seeing 95 knots IAS (with consistent ground speed) as I near 18000. (Flaps and gear checked to be up, automixture enabled in the sim.) Full throttle, prop pitch at max allowed. I have to descend to 12000 to see IAS 142 with ground speed around 170, adjusted for wind. Am I missing something?
Not sure what others are experiencing but I would say that you should not really be flying at 18,000ft in the C310. Not taking into account if the airctaft is pressurized.
Considering that the service ceiling is 20,000ft in standard conditions, what you are describing seems about right.
Service Ceiling: the altitude at which under standard air conditions a particular aircraft can no longer rise at a rate greater than a small designated rate (such as 100 feet per minute)
At 10000 feet with 2100 RPM and 21" Manifold (160/165 knots IAS or 180/185 knots TAS), fly like a dream.
Oxygen (for use with a mask) was available in at least some 310R … see page 10 below
Does the in-sim automixture work? I have never tried that nor seen anyone streamers use that. First thing I would do is turn that off and adjust mixture on your own.
Yes agreed but that was optional. Again non pressurized and needed oxygen masks… a bit different from a pressurized cabin and using masks.
Adding to the discussion about high altitude flight, I understand that sometimes it’s necessary (to clear mountains or avoid weather, etc) but doing so is really not ideal.
Aside from the already mentioned requirement for an oxygen setup, there’s also the question of performance. The C310R has naturally aspirated engines, so they have trouble getting enough air in the high teens. This means they develop a lot less power. After a certain point, you’re actually going to be losing true airspeed as you climb, and the performance charts in the POH reflect this. In fact, the cruise performance charts stop at 15,000 in this version’s manual.
You really shouldn’t go much higher than that for normal operations. It seems to me like this aircraft is happiest at about 8,000 feet since that is where the true airspeed is the highest compared to other altitudes. The pilot will also be happy at that altitude, since the temperature outside isn’t too cold and hypoxia is generally not a concern for healthy people.
To use the two large monitors, you need the TDS GTN 750 xi, which in turn must first be purchased. Correct?
Short question: is it worth the price? THX.
Does anyone know why there isn’t an option to use two PMS750’s? Is that a possibility for a future Milviz update?
There’s a mod for that:
works like a charm
Yes, there is a mod. I’m wondering why it isn’t including as standard and if it ever will be.
Design choice probably. So far Milviz seems not to have commented.
wow. they are stunning
Firstly, love this plane. Like by a long way better than even my beloved Turbo Arrow.
I have an annoying clicking sound. Thought it was the trim at first, then thought it was the mags (sounds a little like when you leave mags in start by mistake). It’s not that either. Drives me crazy. Has anyone else had this issue and/or have ideas on fix?
I use Alpha and Bravo but have not found any conflicts. Thanks.
wondering if anyone can help regarding aircraft ownership and each livery being essentially unique. i chose one of the 310s and selected owner. i’ve flown it around heaps. today i chose a second livery and was going to make it a rental when i noticed that it had exactly the same time recorded on the hobbs meter. it seems that sim is seeing all liveries as identical in this sense. is it designed this way, is it a bug or am i doing something wrong?
i do hear it but it’s never phased me. i use alpha bravo as well so maybe there is something there?
If that sound starts after you take off its your taxi light switch still on on your alpha or bravo.
Lol, I also notice the same until I found out it was the clock ticking.
