Mirror, mirror on the wing, when did you start to see a thing?

I may be the last person to have noticed this, but after four years of staring at a blurry mess in 2020, I’d pretty much stopped looking at mirrors in the sim.

However, this afternoon I loaded up my beloved Waco YMF-5 for the first time in a long time, and I could hardly avoid looking at its wing-mounted mirrors.

I was quite surprised to see this:

Yes, that’s an actual runway number on an actual runway. Never seen that before.

Of course, it suffers from the usual limitations of secondary images in the sim. You can see terrain and not objects. Here’s me parked in front of a hangar:

And here’s what I see in the mirror:

Note the two yellow squares with nothing behind them.

Still, a great advance on what we used to have, and much appreciated.

Yep I just noticed it too, on the mirrors of the Eurofighter… I don’t remember how they were back in SU2 though, so I don’t know if that improvement came with SU3 or earlier. But no doubts it’s a superb improvement

Now, if they could remove the ground reflections from the canopies, that would be great too… ::sweat_smile:

Reflections in prop spinners and fuselage planels have been showing the game world around it for a while now, even in FS2020 if I’m not mistaken. The Waco mirror uses the same reflection properties (I saw that on a recent SU2 flight too).

But yeah, it doesn’t show other 3D objects.

I daresay you’re right, I’d just long ago stopped looking.
