Missing (pink) Textures at KDFW and KORD

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No

Have you disabled/removed all your mods and addons? If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the Community Support section.

Yes.

Brief description of the issue:

Textures are missing from the Airports Dallas Fort Worth and Chicago O’Hare airports.
-I have tried removing my Community folder,
-I have uninstalled and reinstalled the airports and World Update II USA.
-I followed steps mention here and deleted all the fs-base folders and reinstalled them. How to fix graphical artifacts and pink texture issue
-I used steps here to find and error logging in the debug console, Graphic Settings - Pink Aircraft - #13 by J268738
There are dozens of errors regarding the airports that result in “Could not find texture”. This is even after removing and reinstalling the airport.

I suspect that something must be wrong with the download packages for these airports. I know some people are saying that it appears fine for them, but I wonder what would happen if they uninstalled and reinstalled the airport.

I noticed that this issue is also reported with the Sim Update 15 beta also, but there was no reference to Sim Update 14.

Could you try to start in safe mode and check again those 2 airports ?. Once in the sim, open task manger and terminate msfs.exe. At restart you’ll get the safe mode option.

Hi,
I just tested this. Yes even in Safe Mode the textures are still missing.

Have you tried turning off and on photogrammatry? Your ground textures are blurry, which mean there is likely an TIN issue. I have had the same issue with the textures and when I turn off PG that fixes it. It could also fix the issue with the pink textures, though I don’t have that specific issue.

Thanks I’ll try that as soon as I get a chance.

I also just realized that every airport that has these things, they are also lacking the textures

No , toggling photogrammetry didn’t help.

Do you have the USA world updates installed? If so, you may try to remove them and reinstall them.

KDFW looks fine to me.

Yes as stated in my original post. I uninstalled and reinstalled the World Update.
But why do you think the debug log is showing the textures cannot be found?
I’m wondering if there is something wrong with the downloaded package from Asobo’s server.
Can you or anyone try to uninstall that World Update and reinstall it and see if it still works?

I’m wondering if there is something wrong with the downloaded package from Asobo’s server since I’m getting the same results in Safe Mode, and have already uninstalled and reinstalled the World Update II twice.
Can you or anyone try to uninstall that World Update II and reinstall it and see if it still works?

Have you tried those airports without the WU II installed ?

Yes it looks like this

I had a look in “My Content”, and when searching for “KDFW” it confirms that the only pack its in is WU2.

If you then press this button, it shows you the airport proper.

Details of that folder:

I have removed WU II and don’t have any missing buildings as shown on your screenshot.
(I am under SU15B)

Do you have the rolling cache enabled ?, if yes delete or disable it.

Hi @TJTurner
The files shown in the debug console screenshot you posted in your OP belong to the microsoft-modellib-texture package.
The folder location of the files is:
…\OneStore\microsoft-modellib-texture\Scenery\modellib-texture\ModelLib

The actual location depends on where you installed the game (mine is not in the default location, hence the … above, but if you do a search for one of the files in explorer you should find it).

The microsoft-modellib-texture library package is used by many airports, so I’m not surprised that you are seeing pink textures (indicating missing files) at KORD and other airports.

I suspect that this package - part of the core content, I believe - has become corrupted.

I’d suggest temporarily moving the microsoft-modellib-texture folder to another location & starting MSFS. If I correctly understand how the “checking for updates” part of the loading process works, the sim should detect that the package is missing & redownload it.

If that fixes the issue, great. If not (or I’m wrong & the load process does not download the folder), just exit MSFS and move the microsoft-modellib-texturefolder back into the OneStore folder.

Hope this helps! :slightly_smiling_face:

The rolling cache is disabled.
I’m not in the beta.
This issue was also reported in SU15 beta, but was resolved in a recent update.
But there are no reports of it happening in SU14, I don’t know why I’m experiencing it.
I was once in the Beta some time ago, but I decided back out of it because of an issue with multiplayer. I had not visited KDFW during that time. Perhaps the bug rolled back from SU15 to SU14.

I’m going to try joining the beta again, which is supposed to have the fix and then roll back to 14 again and see if the fix rolls back with it.

Thanks I’ll give that a try.

Since KDFW and KORD are major airports, if it was a global issue I think other users would already have reported it, looks like a specific issue with your system. So for the time being I am moving it to the User Support Hub and if more people confirm they also have the same issue within SU14 we can always move it back to the Bug Reporting Hub .

Odd, I don’t have that folder at all. I do have one called “microsoft-modellib-airport-glider”. Perhaps that only gets downloaded if you have certain airports installed?

On my system, from the microsoft store version, it’s here

E:\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Official\OneStore\microsoft-modellib-texture\Scenery\modellib-texture
