More Commentary that REALLY matters

Cool story. And what the “oh so experienced” man left out:

-Sim isn’t even finished or close to be complete as a base package, making it impossible to actually be rated or judged in its entirety, yet that’s what does.

-It’s a NEW V1 platform (do I still have to mention this)

-No other sim in history provided that much fidelty out of the box in the first, unpatched release version, none.

-He is BIASED

-Compares sims that have 2 decades + of legacy and huge 3rd party involvement to a fresh release, that says all I have to know about the guy

-Oh and:
Flightsim community for the last 20 years: WE WANT IT TO LOOK PRETTY AND DON’T HAVE TO SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO ACHIEVE THAT.

MSFS2020 releases…

FsCommunity: IT JUST LOOKS PRETTY BUT WE WANT EVERYTHING TO BE PERFECTLY SIMULATED OUT OF THE BOX TO USE IT FOR FLIGHT TRAINING, JUST LIKE THE OLD SIMS THAT WE BUY ADD-ONS FOR THAT COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS

Humans are really weird sometimes.

I’m a happy flying man over NYC with my mid end machine with high end setting, The sim is awesome and VFR experience is awesome too… Let’s enjoy the sim…

Appeal to authority is a well known fallacy. It’s his opinion and that’s all. It doesn’t mean anything, except for people like you that buy into that narrative.

But you paid for it? why?

What is you’re experience level?

fidelity

[ fi-del-i-tee, fahy- ]SHOW IPA

SEE SYNONYMS FOR fidelity ON THESAURUS.COM

noun, plural fi·del·i·ties.

strict observance of promises, duties, etc.:a servant’s fidelity.

loyalty:fidelity to one’s country.

conjugal faithfulness.

adherence to fact or detail.

accuracy; exactness:The speech was transcribed with great fidelity.

Audio, Video. the degree of accuracy with which sound or images are recorded or reproduced.

Are you making a new definition for the word fidelity?

This statement makes the rest of what you say to be questionable, you do not know Mr. Williams.

It is the expectation of progression that has always been part of flight simulation. Without progress in aviation realism/substance there will be no success. Graphics are a small part of it in reality.

That is false. There are so many proven ways that the flight sim community has spent hundreds of dollars to achieve what they want.

That is false too. All we expect is what was advertised. Fidelity? - no, there is no fidelity.

That’s a bunch of ad-hominem attacks and strawman arguments. You did nothing to address the fact that this is one mans opinion and just that. Other people with just as much experience see beyond their ego, unlike this gentleman.

But are you not giving an OPINION with what you just said?

Just because you don’t agree, does not make something a fallacy.

I did not BUY INTO the MSFS “journey”, because I don’t know if it will be completed.

However, you bought into the MSFS “journey”. So are you saying you know exactly what you will be doing next week, or is it possible that any of your plans could get ruined by an unforeseen accident/weather disaster/covid?

Your title: “More commentary that really matters” excuse me, that “REALLY” matters.
Why does it REALLY matter? Because you think this guy is some sort of authority, else it wouldn’t matter. And I say, it doesn’t matter, it’s his opinion and that’s it. And by writing such a title you automatically show that this is the narrative you support, end of story. At the end of the day you’re trying to tell ppl the obvious: the sim isn’t fully there yet. Wow, really?? Who would’ve thought!! Such threads don’t do anything besides stating the obvious and create opinion vs opinion discussions.

This game is not launching in 1983 nor 1993 nor 2003 nor 2013, it’s now 2020 and we expect a new sim to be substantially better in every respect not just visuals , this sim looks like an eye candy promotion for x boxers .

Quoting the review attached put it quite succinctly:

“ In sum, FS2020 strikes me as an update that focuses on visual wow factors that attract enthusiasts of console games and some veteran “simmers.” But it’s an incomplete flight simulation. In fact, in many respects, it’s a step backward for virtual aviators and real-world pilots who want to experience aviation when they can’t take to the skies in a real aircraft. I hope that Microsoft and the developer who created this new simulation will work closely with the add-on developers who can fill in gaps and make FS2020 more than just spectacular way to see the world from above.”

exactly - and this forum exists mostly for this opinion stuff (feedback). The key is to not get angry at other opinions. Debate the facts, by their validity/truth, but debating opinions is where most go wrong.

It is 2020. I just wanted to welcome the kids of new generation to the world of flight simulation where “coming soon” means 1 year.

In this world your computer always struggles to perform. You can spend thousands on Hardware but I am sorry this is not Call of Duty. You can’t expect 9900k and 2080ti with 16gb ram gives 120fps @4k. “Scales with Hardware”

In this world you will learn how to be patient. This will be the most important thing. Because when most of your Xbox, PC and PS4 games released every year or every other year, Flight Simulator is not (or xplane). For example I have been waiting anything like this more than 20 years. Still if you want to see the ugly side, turn off damage and land your aircraft in the middle of Manhattan and see how graphics are so bad.

And remember if the investment is not that profitable, there is no point going for it.

Says the guy that resorted to ad-hominem to make his point. Whatever.

This post was started to discuss the opinions of a third party about MSFS. It has now descended into back and forth discussions focusing specifically on forum members and their opinions. I urge all of you to review the Code of Conduct and then assess your own comments to see if you are in compliance.

The idea of the forums is to promote discussion about topics, not each other. We will keep track of this thread, and if it continues to focus on forum members rather that the OP’s topic, it will be closed.

Thank you.

ad hominem

[ˌad ˈhämənəm]

ADJECTIVE

  1. (of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining.

“vicious ad hominem attacks”

ADVERB

  1. in a way that is directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining.

“these points come from some of our best information sources, who realize they’ll be attacked ad hominem”

  1. in a way that relates to or is associated with a particular person.

“the office was created ad hominem for Fenton”

So MSFS is a person?

I already explained why I posted the link to this commentary of Mr. Williams. The success of MSFS is in my best interest, at the moment MSFS is useless to me. There has been a HUGE debate as to the completeness of the a/p and the weather specifically. But the MSFS development team has acknowledged that the a/p and weather both need fixing, so how can these be up for debate? They either work as advertised or they don’t. Because I know they don’t, I find others who I know absolutely know what they are talking about and I share their assessment with the MSFS team. This is intended for the GOOD of the MSFS team.

If I ever decide I want to just simply hate MSFS, I would just leave. I do not hate MSFS, but it needs way too much improvement for my use at this time, and I want to see that all corrected.

You resorted to pointing out typos instead of addressing what I said. You seem obsessed with language, maybe go work as a teacher? Anyway, this won’t lead anywhere. Have a good day.

precise language is top priority in communication.

And I’m right in that case. Focusing on attacking typos instead of the argument, in a derogatory way, is an ad-hominem attack.Byebye!

As promised, this post is now closed. Thank you.
