More Multiprop engine aircraft

Im tired of flying jets and airliners and the multiples of single engined small aircraft flooding the market because they are quick to make with good return for developers and tired of that have one touch autopilots that can do everything once set up which to me is not real flying and boring, its like using a remote control on a tv and becomes mind numbing.
Real flying is with Multiprop radial piston engines that need constant monitoring as a pilot and we dont see enough of this type of aircraft. The PMDG DC-6 was the leader and was a real step forward in this area and they took the lead on this, we love it and are gratefull for the DC-6 experience. The DC-3 is the DC-6 trainer. The PMDG tutorial videos on YT, even if you dont have a DC-6 are an education on radial engines and help for the DC-3 as rob, the presenter was an actual DC-3 pilot.
More 4 engined piston aircraft, a good version of the short sunderland, ( not a slapped up repackaged fsx version) where is the Cataline PBY??? ,the DC-7, the German JU-88 , B-50 superfortress, B-36 Peacemaker (military and transport plane). This should be the challenge and the vision for developers to strive for. Dont they like money ?

The L1049 Constellation, which is already available, should fit your requirements.
It’s pretty close in quality to PMDG’s DC-6

Yes I already have that, the plane is a repackaged fsx version cockpit looks identical in its graphical look, colouring and design. Red Wing doesnt have a operating manual that is downloadable for this aircraft but i found the fsx manual online which is pretty detailed on settings and check lists and is awesome which you can find here :-

Virtavia.com have a super constellation only for Prepared3d only which I dont have but there manual is interesting and is available here :-
VIRTAVIA L-1049G Super Constellation

I hope that helps you and other lovers of the conne

I don’t understand this. Real flying (in the sim) is whatever you enjoy the most. I think there are many wonderful add-ons for FS2020. Radial multiprops are rare IRL and rare in the sim. But it turns out many people want to fly a single prop from A2A, or fly an A320. That’s just how it is.

If you really want more radial engines, FlyingIron have some wonderful planes. Albeit not exactly what you’re asking.

You should calculate how much PMDG made with their 777. Yes they like money. Therefore they made a 777. And thousands and thousands of people bought it.

There is a PBY-5 Catalina from French-VFR.

It’s no longer supported because the author disappeared from the face of the earth a week after releasing the product, but, the Boeing 247 is a fun twin radial engine aircraft that has decent user support. A couple of issues with it, but, they have workarounds. The plane is available on Simmarket. Be careful with the Wing42 site, it was hacked at some point and I’m not sure it ever came back. The partner author who wrote the radio range device and database of navaids is still available and has answered questions related to that.

@STARPIRAT - would you please change the title to “More multi-engine aircraft please (radial engine preferably)”? While what you said is understandable, there aren’t many “multi-prop” engine aircraft besides the Wright Flyer, there’s usually a single prop per engine, and what you’re asking for are multi-engine aircraft… specifically radial engines in your case.

For sure they do but there is something to think about: documentation and pilots.

Most big radial engine aircraft disappeared by now besides the DC-6 and DC-3. On many of them there also likely is a lack of freely available documentation - if there is documentation you have to find and maybe even buy it.

The next problem can be licensing as you have to do that for a payware product whenever you wanna use real life fonts and logos - if there is still an owner for that license you’ll have to get the rights to use this stuff (even if the owner is a private person). Then you’ll need good quality sound recordings from aircraft which don’t fly anymore or have to create them in some synthetic way.

Finally to reach a certain level of authenticity you’d need former pilots to validate your flight dynamics and overall aircraft behavior, or even some engineer who was on the flight deck back then. Most of these guys are retired since a long time of they are still alive (if you’d like to have a DC-2 or even a DC-1 prototype chances may be quite low).

The reason you see more modern aircraft and jets is because gathering the information more easy if you are not Microsoft/Jörg Neumann  maybe there are many radials in work but stuck in the process trying to find information or sounds.

There will be more radial/old combustion engine aircraft down the line but it takes tons more effort to get these right - not because of the engine but simply because of data available.

If you take the approach that everything must be realistic, then yeah, that’s a hill to climb. Or, from a few photos, you can recreate a classic, create a sound pack that is a symphony to the ears, and add a flight model that is close enough and fun to fly. This is a simulator, after all.

Isn’t the Beech 18 a multi-radial?

And the Ju-52, and the Ford Tri-motor, and the G-21 Goose, and Hughes H-4, and the HU16/G111 Albatros, Focke-Wulf FW 200, and the Boeing 307, and I think the DHC-4 Caribou, and the C-46, and the Boeing 314, and the Latecoere 631, and the Fokker FVII I think… yeah, there’s a few… And those are just the radials, a B-17 coming, a B-24, the Dorniers are inline, but still cool vintage you need to manage planes…
