Mounting a toggle-switch to a plank of plywood

Hi folks,

I am doing my very first DIY project, and so far it has gone very well. It is not modeled after any thing specific but more of a master control panel that lets me control stuff like autopilot, lights, and radio, all on a plank of plywood.

I have finished drilling the holes to the buttons, but I am unsure of how to mount toggle switches. If I drill a hole all the way through to the exact size, the toggle switch will not mount. What should I do? Anyone have any suggestions?

It is just a plank of normal plywood, as that’s all I have. I would have bought a plastic sheet, but I’m already almost done drilling through plywood so I am going to stick with it.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Came up with a sort-of solution. I used my step-drill bit to angle the hole so that the back side of the toggle switch mounts in and the hole in the front is smaller for the switch itself to go through. It’s not perfect but I’ll post pictures when I’m done.

If anyone has any suggestions in the future please let me know.

Thanks!
