When using a mouse to look around in cockpit or external view it’s impossible to make small, fine movements. Only bigger moves register in the sim
Description: I move my mouse a little bit with small, fine movement- the camera does not move in the sim at all. When i move the mouse faster- it registers and the camera works
Seems like the mouse has a big deadzone or some kind of acceleration. I use it to look around and it makes the sim feel very sluggish.
I’ve tried to play around with mouse/camera sensitivity but it does not fix the issue.
I play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, newest version as of 06.01.2025, played on Steam, PC
I’m insulated by it for the most part as I use a Tobii 5 head tracker. But if I ever fire up the sim to check something quickly, and don’t want to enable all my gear, I’m quickly reminded of how awful it really is.
It may be harsh to suggest it, but I don’t really feel Asobo fully understand the needs of PC users, and distinguish those needs from console gamers needs.
A mouse doesn’t need any of those “helpers” that console controller sticks benefit from, being an absolute positioning device. I don’t need acceleration, I have an arm.
This is such a horrible issue. What I can’t understand is why the cockpit, and the external walkaround, have slightly different expressions of the same issue. The walkaround has a much coarser, or perhaps wider deadzone than the cockpit camera is.
Again, I’m sure this works fine on a console controller thumb stick, but for a mouse user it is entirely unnecessary.
Mouse detected? Disable all mouse acceleration or dead zone features.
