Unprecise Mouse Movement in Flight Simulator 2020 on Xbox Series X

This isn’t the original thread on this, but I think its the oldest thread that is still open.

I thought I would share some imagery from games I have purchased in recent years which show how mouse controls should be done, as well as tie in links to the various threads out there that discuss this topic as I feel it has been overlooked, and interest fractured into many topics.

First of all the imagery.

The first game I purchased the other day. It’s the Halo Master Chief collection, first released in 2014, then again in 2019.

There are options to set mouse sensitivity, mouse acceleration on/off, and mouse smoothing, the last some interpret as negative mouse acceleration. The only way to improve this that I see is to allow separate X,Y sensitivity scaling, but by no means a massive omission.

Here’s an interesting one, because it is implicitly missing. The game is Abiotic Factor. Mouse has sensitivity sliders for X, and Y, which is great. Underneath you will see “deadzone” options for controllers. These are to tune out small movements of those little broccoli sticks you have to use. What Asobo have done is have those options enabled for both the controller and mouse. These developers did a much better job of having those options only for the controller.

Below are the threads that are, or were discussing this issue.

This has been reported since at least December 2020, and yet still no movement on this, and in fact has gotten worse under 2024, as we now have that “deadzone” effect, or negative mouse acceleration as I call it, as well as regular mouse acceleration. This thread predates the 2024 release though.
