Moving GSX from 2020 to 2024

FSTD updated the GSX installer. There is an option on the left where you can switch sims. So far it has been working for me on MSFS24. Update the installer, switch to MS2024 and install GSX. It put the contents into the 2024 Community folder.

Can you not have it at both simulators at the same time?

I have the same issue.

I went to install GSX Pro, the launcher found the location straightaway, however, I noticed it was going to install on my C drive.

I moved the Community folder via MSFS2024 Library, and then re-launched FSDT Installer, and it can no longer see MSFS2024 installed.

it seems like you need to have already gsx installed in 2020… i dont have 2020 anymore and the installer doesnt know at all that there is a 2024, no option to search for community, no drop down menu… pretty useless so far… i have no intentions of having 2020 installed just for gsx

did you manage to fix this?

I still have CTDs when trying to start a flight with GSX linked in the community folder. I disabled all jetways.

Is there FS2020 third party scenery involved?

Well my community folder is empty apart from the GSX links.

I have both 2020 and 2024 installed. In the FSDT Installer I only see “2020 MS Store” as an option in the pull-down menu, though. Anyone was able to fix that in the same scenario?

EDIT:
FSDT Installer fully updated, as well as GSX itself. Still no 2024 option.

Same over here.

Yes this happened with me for the A330.

The problem is MSFS 2024 when you change the Content folder with the MyLibrary settings, won’t create an actual Community folder until you start it again (unless your Community folder already existed), so the FSDT Installer won’t find it, because it needs the folder to be there, to prevent being fooled by remnants of old installations.

So you need to either create an empty Community folder yourself, or start the sim again, so it will create it on the new startup, and finally the FSDT installer.

Can we have a way to to use this on both 2020 and 2024 but without 2024 using the 2020 GSX Profiles?
If I enable GSX in 2024 then go to for example KLAS, the 2024 GSX will try to use the KLAS Profile I have for FlyTampa KLAS which I do not have installed in 2024. This means I get really weird Jet Ways and the traffic goes crazy.

Does this make sense? Sorry If I am not making it clear? But it would be nice to have separate configs for MSFS 2020 & MSFS 2024

This! Finally 2024 showed up as an option in the FSDT Installer and I could relink. Thanks mate. Much appreciated.

This would be very helpful, whether it’s possible, I don’t know

Update: 7am here and just started my coffee. I accidentally enabled all jetways instead of disabled. After properly disabling, and some coatl restart errors, appears to be working now in 2024.

With latest 3.2.9, and disabling all jetways and seated passengers, I still get CTD at the same spot (after selecting fly and waiting for airport data to load). Unlinking and all is good. Any tips to help debug? I have no other add ons for 2024 in community folder.

Works fine in 2020.

GSX, seems to be working fine on 2024 for me, but the update/dialogue box (saying things like ‘260/345 passengers boarded’ is to9o far left, leaving visible ‘0/345 passengers boarded’ instead of ‘260/345 passengers boarded’

I have a question regarding GSX profiles, are those from 2020 also functional for the 2024 version? I noticed that KSGF does not work for 2024. Should I move the Virtuali file?
Thanks

Thanks Umberto, glad to read there are updates coming.
However, the below screen grab gives me the error about compatibility. Maybe best to wait until there is an update.

There are zero compatibility problems, if you do what the installer suggest to do, which removes the two things that are not compatible yet, which are Living World and Airport Services.

Living World and Airport Services are vehicles wandering around the airport and servicing AI airplanes, they don’t have any effect on GSX-proper vehicles servicing your airplane and they are automatically removed if you have only MSFS 2024.

The message comes out only if you have both MSFS 2020 and 2024 installed, to alert you that, because there’s just one GSX installation (so you won’t waste 10GB of files by installing twice), disabling those vehicles in one sim will affect the other, but that’s it.
