Moving GSX from 2020 to 2024

I’m just wondering how I would go about moving GSX from MSFS 2020 to MSFS 2024, do I need to uninstall and reinstall? Just move it from the old community folder to the new one?

Rather wait what the developer says about compatibility. I assume this is a bit more complex than just a scenery.

With GSX you will more than likely have to wait for them to update it to work in FS2024 due to how it installs and how it works. I would check fsdreamteam forums for updates

I’ve seen commentary that GSX might need some time to update for MSFS24. Seems like MSFS24 is supposed to be able to do all the GSX stuff anyway (we will see I guess)

GSX has been running in MSFS 2024 for quite some time. There’s just nothing you need to do, if you already have it installed in MSFS 2020, just follow this:

  • Start the FSDT Installer.

  • On the left drop-down list, if you have both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 installed, you can choose which simulator you want to set up.

  • After you select MSFS 2024, you will see GSX (and other FSDT products) which were previously installed into 2020 to read Relink

  • Click Relink and update every product that is listed as requiring an update, mostly airports.

That’s it.

No uninstall, no reinstall, no reactivation, no wasted disk space, since we’ll just add Symbolic links to the 2024 Community folder.

Of course, expect several updates to GSX in the next days/weeks, mostly to add internal profiles for all the new default 2024 airplanes, which we couldn’t test because they weren’t included in the SDK Alpha.

That is amazing to read, thank you Umberto for the good preparation!

Beautiful, Thanks!!

HAVE Both Msfs 2020 and 2024 installed , only showing 2020 in drop down box in FSdreamteam universal installer… Please advise

Thanks so much. Worked like a charm.

Really appreciate it, worked great. Seems like you’ve helped many others as well!

Hmmm. Updated GSX pro, did relink in MS2024, then start a flight with A321 at KRNO gate 9. Get CTD after hitting fly now. Tried twice. Unlinked and sim works.

Reboot didn’t help. Tried a different aircraft (old one from 2020 imported). Same.

Tried KLAX gate 25B. CTD. Unlink and all works.

On version 3.2.7. Maybe an issue introduced in this version?

What if I uninstall MS2020? Can I uninstall it, install MS2024 and relink it?

For the time being, use the GSX Config page and disable GSX replacement jetways for all airports, the Navdata is different than MSFS 2020 and, while this would only cause duplicated parking spots in MSFS 2020, in 2024 seems to crash.

We’ll of course update the replacement jetway files for the new Navdata soon, but this should work as a temporary workaround.

No problem, the installation status of the FSDT products is not related to sim installation status.
